Oxford Hot grips dont fit???

Got a set of oxford hotgrips as a present ,, decided to fit them on the M750 Today but the right hand one wont fit over the throttle twist tube .

Oxford say use sandpaper to smooth the tube down to 25.5mm but my original Ducati plastic throttle grip tube is 27.3 mm that seems excessive and a lot of work , and irreversable which I dont like ,

MAYBE an after market twist grip insert for £6 off fleabay might solve the issue ???

any one else had this issue ,, My daughter Ninja 650 has the Oxford hot grips and they are good on cold days ...

I recall having a similar problem Jerry, I ended up trimming the throttle tube with a Stanley knife (always cut towards a friend). To be honest I didn't really like the heated grips, I found my palms sweating and my thumbs still freezing, I ended up buying heated gloves, much better, then I sold the gloves and moved to Spain, no heated clothing required ;-)

DaveR fitted some on his 750SS which must surely have the same throttle tube as a Monster? He didn't report any problems.

Re the hot palms/cold finger syndrome; I discovered this when I switched mine on for the first time in mid December when I rode my new bike home.
I always buy gloves with enough room to wear thermal inner gloves and the answer turned out to be to wear the inner gloves with the heated grips on. They insulate the raw heat from the grips in my palms, but wick it round to the front of my hands and fingers making it very comfy.
I've never used any more than the lowest setting.

Dunno whether they still make them but I use a pair of oxford wrap-around grip heaters.
These are totally reversible/removeable in a few seconds and suit me fine for the few times that I ever ride longish distance in cold conditions these days.
They're not the most bling or tidy option but they do the job, with the slight downside that their added thickness makes the grips more of a handful.
Cold fingertips are not really an issues because I made myself a pair of moderately neat handguards many years ago and these keep the blast off the extremities. They are fairly quickly and easily removed too which, for cosmetic reasons, was the original plan when I made them but I ended up leaving them on full time. They keep the bugs and road dirt off the levers and reservoirs too.
I reckon that the combo of heated grips and handguards means that you can get away with lower heat intensity from the grip heaters because you're not constantly fighting the heat loss from the wind blast therefore, unlike when using heated grips alone, your palms don't burn despite your fingertips remaining cold.
Actually most of the time the handguards alone are sufficient to keep my fingers warm enough.

im impressed with the Oxford Hot grips on Kats Ninja 650 , i first tried them 2 years ago and they work well for me ,, and even on really freezing days I only have them on half power ,,, and as im in UK most of this winter I want them on the Monster too

As Kats having a baby and I cant stay in warm Thailand with the Z900 and S4 as i have to be Grandad when it comes late December ,, Brrrrrr

I always use an airline to install grips but there's prob not much expansion in the heated type as they are stiff, so back in the dark ages before i had a compressor I used to use hairspray to assist grip fitting. Lager it on and its slippy, but dries tacky so the grips don't spin in use.

All sorted now,
I did what Oxford tech guy said and wired it all into the bike , then let the grips heat up added a tiney amount of silicone spray and they pushed them on to bar and throttle it was hard pushing but they are on firmly.. Then went for a ride, over the Marlborough downs to Lambourn and the Uffington White horse , very nice now my hands are warm on a cold day only used middle setting of 5 ...
