I'm sure we'll come across a few teething problems.
You can use the 'Contact us' link here or at bottom of page to report anything you think needs fixing.

Hi Rob,great work on getting the new forum up and running,a big thankyou mate.

Just wondering if the post count will still be the same,as in,posts in the Random Chat section didn't count before,is this one the same? Not that it really matters but just interested

will add it to the list of (less vital) things that still need checking, thanks for pointing out Kim.

Well done Rob, you've worked really hard to get this up and running.
I'm sure there willbe a few who moan, but as far as I'm concerned I like the blue colourway.

thanks Dave, I quite like the web app, that goes dark at night, and light during the day

Hi Rob,thanks for the reply.Have found something else;

If I click on the link in the email notification it comes up with an "Error 404 Page not found" message.
Have cleared cookies but still the same.Using a Macbook Air with Firefox.
If I click on my original UK Monster Club bookmark it works fine.

Ha! Late to the party!
My old favourites button doesn't find this site anymore for some reason. but no matter, it's just me.
I will re-favourite it.

Absolutely fabulous job Rob and a monumental moment for UKMOC.
Many thanks for all your hard work.🏁

I click "What's new" to see new topics and/or new replies. Can I just mark some of them as "Read" to turn them from bold to not-bold letters?View attachment 94

does this help at all? but only marks 'All' read, I'm not really sure how you'd go about selectively marking some, as you'd need to read them anyway, to know what you were marking.

Thanks - yes, I've seen that option. Some forums have a small symbol by each thread to click on - resulting in fewer "unread" threads. This new version doesn't. No biggie. I'm able to figure these things out without too much hassle. My concern is that potential new recruits usually have patience/concentration to last one and a half click before they move on. We will keep the quality typical of forums, but we will be more and more alone. The restless idiots will be on brain dead social media asking/"helping" other idiots - gaining nothing. One of few things we can do to attract and keep new recruits is to keep it extremely simple.

On the bottom of the "what's new", maybe other pages too, there are transcripts of direct messages. I thought they were supposed to be private.....

Direct messages are private. What you are seeing are Profile messages, which are not private.
This was also the case on the old forum, but you had to go to the members profile to read them and only one side of the conversation was visible.
Not sure why they are on display on this one, nor why we need profile messages when we have DM's.

To send a DM, just hover over the recipient's avatar and the option to send a direct message will appear at the bottom of the box that pops up.
Alternatively you can click on the envelope icon beside your own avatar at the top where you log in, and type in the recipient's username.

Finding my way around the slick new website, I wondered if there should be an “about UKMOC” tab somewhere obvious or even as the default landing page (sorry if there already is and I’ve just failed to spot it! Briefly skimmed the nice place to say hello/welcome bit but didn’t spot anything).

An opportunity to just briefly explain the history of UKMOC from its founding and its ethos/purpose to set the tone? So new folk coming across UKMOC know what it’s all about/where it came from? I dimly recall in the past maybe seeing something about the history, Fatbloke and the original founding of UKMOC and Robs many years as President and UKMOC always being a free to use site for exchanging knowledge etc between enthusiasts, whilst keeping the vibe friendly and drama free… it’s always been an unusually lovely corner of the internet with its helpful mutually supportive flavour. So nice to set expectations for any new folk who come across it?

I remember the Fatbloke days, met him at a track day at Mallory Park. There were quite a few characters on here back then.We also had a sort of chatgroup thingy on here, but that was before Whatsapp and stuff like that, had some good laughs.Always been a good place to be and long may it continue
