696 Engine management light on and get you home mode.

On my way home from getting new tyres ,doing around 60 mph on a busy motorway and in the dry. Suddenly engine management light come on and immediately bike is in "get you home mode" is virtually no power. Got off the motorway and stopped and engine cuts out, left it 2 minutes and it starts and runs fine.
Decided on a trial run next day on a twisty A road, ran fine for 20 minutes then same problem.
Googled it and got lost in everyone's electrical gremlins.
Local Ducati dealer closed today, but any info would be welcome, BTW it is fitted with Leo Vinci's with no baffles, could it be a heat/fueling issue?
