Timing belt covers.
Okay this is a bit weird and I think this question has been asked a little while back, but I don't recall a satisfactory answer.
Is it possible to fit the alloy, Pantah type belt covers from 600/750 engines, onto a late 750 in lieu of the plastic ones? I'm thinking they will obviously not be a straight superficial swap and would require the hard rubber back pieces to be swapped too, those would be the parts that would need to be interchangeable. I'm hoping that early and late drillings in the heads and barrels for the inner covers are the same... Anyone? This is not of massive importance btw... just a hypothetical project. Cheers.

Ha! Have I found a question that even the combined mental might of UKMOC can't answer?

Its the (Rizoma?) ones with windows that are the best looking in my book. I'd really like some of those!

There was some information in this old thread http://www.ukmonster.co.uk/monster/s...ad.php?t=39722
And some time ago you posted up some pics of svbrian's special, which I think had the cambelt covers you're talking about. http://www.ukmonster.co.uk/monster/s...ad.php?t=56861 Didn't that bike start off as Paul Hyde's (italianjob)? I'm not sure whether he got it with the Pantah covers already fitted but it might be worth contacting him. |

That's more like it chaps..
Thanks for the replies. Luddite, that Monster would have come with the alloy covers originally. It's an early 750 with the egg shaped primary cover, still a Pantah engine really, with reversed head. Spotted the rizoma covers on Capo's post (in luddite's link) and realized someone had already stolen my idea of putting a window in the cover. I would only do the vertical one though, as a homage to the bevels. It was to check for oil supply to the vertical bevel... No need for oil-tightness on a belt cover though.

I fitted early alloy 750ss covers to a 2000 monster no problems at all nicely polished

Yea i think my old 750ss had metal covers but not the Pantah style ones. Mine were plain.
