Tis an 11mm.

Be warned - the sump plug is made from brass and quite soft. It's worth buying a good quality hex socket as you can get a decent breaker bar to get it undone. When I got mine, the plug was badly chewed up and took me about four hours to get out.....

they are soft but also deep, spray all the gubbins out first to get a good purchase, mine is a bit chewed at the top but it bites fine inside.

Yerbs do yourself a favour and change it next time. Mine didn't look too bad, but chewed up fairly suddenly, even with a decent hex socket.

They cost about seven quid....

worry not pedro, its on the list (not a priority) as its working fine, as I keep taking cases off to paint and re paint Im becoming a bit of a master at oil drains! (3 in the last 3 weeks) not such a master painter.......

Went to do an oil/filter change on the trike this afternoon to discover some twat has managed to mangle the drain plug :Furious: Will get a new one next week before I try to remove it - hopefully things won't get too brutal & messy in the process.

Wish me luck :grump:

How badly damaged ?? In my experience you could say get a size up ie 12mm and slightly chamfer ends and tap it in to increase the size so its tight. Hope it helps.;)

Wish I saw this earlier...explains why I rounded the damn thing for starters. Mine's all chewed up know and I've got a few ideas to sort it out. Just got some torx to pound in and see if it grips. If not, I'm going to take a chisel to it. If the chisel is too sharp and the brass too soft I'll cut a 'V' out off the edge and put a pinch punch to it. That's the plan anyway.

Just had a look at the new plug I just got and I think you've gone the right way about it since it IS tapered, as mentioned in the thread you refer to. It's 10 mm at the 'bottom' and 11-12 mm at the 'top'. Stupid design.
