Anyone know how to test if the sensor works. I believe mine is faulty as the wiring is all OK.

Caused a bit of a problem the other day as I broke down in the middle traffic cos I ran out of gas

You can test the bulb by unplugging the connector to the sender and bridging the two coming from the loom. The light should come on. If it does the sender HAS had it. They are fairly cheap and a doddle to fit as long as you have drained the tank first.

My sender went about six months ago, when I priced them from the Ducati Dealers they wanted over 50 quid - I was expecting to pay a fiver up to a tenner! I just top up when I reach 120miles on the trip meter.

I think this must be a common problem as a couple of the bikes I phoned about had faulty fuel sensors.
I was told they are £50 which sounds about right.

I actually tested the bulb just before the trip when I broke down

the fuel level is low enough to just tip the tank back and remove the sender. Whole scenario is a pain - yet another thing to go wrong with the bike. So I can't test the sender using a cup of fuel or something like that?
