View Full Version : Castle Combe - 60 Years Celebrations on September 3rd 2011

Rally
09-03-2011, 06:28 PM
Castle Combe this year celebrates 60 years of motorcycle racing. The highlight of which will be the Rapid Solicitors 848 Challenge, at their one day meeting on Saturday 3rd September. Ducati have also arranged for the BSB team to come and do a demonstration and an opportunity to meet with race fans, Scott Smart is coming down. They will have a display of Ducatis and also Carl Fogarty who will ride a few laps of the circuit at lunchtime with the BSB team. Ducati are also bringing their events truck with displays, so the whole event will have a major Ducati presence and involvement.

As part of the arrangements with Ducati they have said that they will offer a 2 for 1 ticket offer to any Ducati Owners Club members who book in advance. In addition they will have a special Ducati only parking area, adjacent to the events truck itself.

The special ticket offer will be set up with a discount code on here, for booking onto the Castle Combe website. (This is to follow) When purchasing the tickets, you pay for one at £15.00 plus a small additional postage/credit card charge of 50p, but will receive two tickets for the event including an all day Paddock Transfer. On the day this would cost £35.00

Let's start a list of names of those that would like to come.
I will be making arrangements and posting on here soon about a UKMOC stand as well.

I have just had it confirmed that we will have a space held separately for us in the Ducati car park at Camp corner for the UKMOC. We need to secure the space with some tape or bikes by 8.30am if possible (All locals coming, please try to do this). Unfortunately there are no free tickets due to the offer of two for the price of one along with free paddock passes. (See Staffords post above for full details)

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR TICKETS ARE BOOKED BY THE END OF THE MONTH.

Shall we start the usual list of who is intending on coming below.

It makes you ride with more awareness unless you give up.

I mean this in a good way chris so dont take it the wrong way mate. You broke the bike thats all.

Just an update and reminder to let you all know that the deadline for duplicate tickets is coming near to its closing time. We are to set up at Camp Corner adjacent to the Ducati stand, so come on, lets put a good display on. It would be good to have an example of each model from over the years if we could.

Tickets.
Just phone 01249 782417 and quote the discount code of DC2011. Tickets must be ordered by not later than 12 noon on Tuesday 30th August 2011. Two tickets and a free paddock pass for £15. On the day it will cost you £35 for the same.

Gilps, If you book online, you will get the offer anyway. If you want to be doublely sure, send them an e-mail at the same time.

The stand is at Camp corner next to Ducati, near the Avon Bridge. You need to access the stand by turning left up a lane, just after the Quarry and Paddock entrances if heading from the A420 and going towards the village of Castle Combe. See you there.

Indeed Gordon except in cases like Derby (the old head office of the Midland region) where the up line is the line you take from Birmingham and who know what's up/down between Birmingham and Bristol.
Bit of an early start for Stuart though, no idea about the bus service though from Chippenham.

It's a Ducati celebration day so you'll hardly be alone unless you park with the UKMOC in the naughty corner.

The UKMOC naughty corner would be ok.
The Monster still needs new tyres before it can be used again :Furious:

I am tempted to ride up for the day... would I be shunned by you all if i turned up on the Multistroodle

It would be good to see you along for the day, if you want to come down tonight with Albie, we will find space for you! Chat with Albie on timing if that's the case.

I'm defo coming, but might be in the car. The prospect of a long motorway journey with a whiney pillion with a numb bum is putting me off.

Nice setup today Rally - thanks for the help and parking ... good racing too :)

There were some great Monsters there today, very very impressive ...

Now off to browse Rizoma's site....just don't tell the missus.. ;)

Great day! Really really enjoyed the racing. Great to see everyone and thanks to Rally for organising our spot and anyone else who lent a helping hand.

Sadly only about 12 of the rumoured 26 degrees showed up but nevermind! :)

I had a great half weekend. A cool ride down on friday and a chance to follow a muck spreader on the A342 :toilet: Then a night in Devizes for chips and beer and meeting some nice people. I love you lot down there, your so welcoming to a stray. A very mild hangover for me but I had a great day and got home safely and indoors to clean the car out for 6pm.
Met the Fogmeister again and Mr Rutter all battered and frustrated

Why the hell are M1100's so economical that you dont want to believe the fuel light. 150 miles and no light. Awesome economy and was averaging 70/80mph all the way on m4/m25

(Correct road added!)

great set up Rally, hope you got home in time for the carnival...

Sorry I was in the car, but was the best choice in the end given the motorway slog and pillion

Good to catch up with people and put a few new names to faces.

Like Bex, a hugh thanks to all who came along and helped out, in particular Stuart and Alun for making me aware of the day and the things I forgot - food, puck..
Great racing and the chance to talk "Josh" with Micheal Rutter toped my day :)

On the plus side, it may not have been tropical, but it beat todays heavy rain!
Mrs Steve was pleased to meet you all and now says she needs her own Monster.
If only I had found an 1100 evo to show her......

Thanks to all for your comments but also for turning up which made it the great day it was. Also a big thanks to S4RS Mack who got up early to help put the stand together as well.

Good day at the track - and looks like it was perfectly timed weather wise - absolutely throwing it down here today.............

Thanks to all involved and with the added bonus of a magical mystery tour trying to get round Devizes carnival (Stu / Bex - we pulled in at Shrewton for fuel).

Went to Castle Combe Yesterday. Camera of course had to go with a slightly biggger lense I have been wanting to take to a race meet. Didn't realise the Monster Club were going to be there. Nice to meet up with a couple. We were in a MPV as the twins we have need baby seats.

Some great pictures there from both of you. I particularly like this one from Steeevvvooo. As well as most models being represented, this also shows most colours available over the years!

Hi all

Good to see everyone at Combe .... thank you Rally for looking after my lid and setting up.

I did see quite a few bods stopping and taking pictures of the bikes so quite a bit of interest. Sue came along later in the afternoon (not a bike lover), and really enjoyed the racing !!! ....I'll be taking the rear seat cowling off next !! ..
