May 7th - Veloce open day - Norwich

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Come to Norfolk, its flat and smells of animal poo.

Bring a strand of wheat to chew, straw will be provided for seating and theres a prize for the Ducat that can plough the most fields in a day.

Don't know any more than that, but there is an open day, its at Veloce dealers in Norwich. It'll be open all day as is tradition for an open day and being a Ducati dealers there'll probably be some Ducati's there to look at too, in an open day kind of way?

Thread taken from:

UK Monster Owners Club Forum > .: General :. > Events > Region Announcements > Suffolk

(I can't do the link thingy)

At the moment (pending decent weather) it appears to be me and possibly StuartG.

Others???

Doc, Runningman, PeteS4, Chappers, Chris, Madhatter, Cereberus - usual suspects

I can go but need to be back in CMK by 5pm as I start my pub shift at 6pm :(

What sorta time we planning on leaving? Where we likely to be meeting?

I'm supposed to be somewhere else that day but think I can change it. I can meet anywhere but suggest we might want to end up meeting Chappers + anyone else in MK + go on from there. A 9ish meet would suit me getting back at a reasonable-ish time in afternoon.

I ve got my monster booked in there at the end of the month for its anal service, only 15 minutes away from me very handy.
They seem rather polite chaps very helpful.

See you there.

Hi Russell, it's anal service eh?

Suffolk Squadron here, see you there! We was only joking about the animal poo, no, we weren't actually but it does smell, you know that!

Hope to see you there!

Stuart suggested 9ish, so I guess 8.30 would be ok - but I guess I could make 8am if everyone else is up for it - christ, I'm gonna be half asleep.

Oh, just thought of something, does anybody know the way or how long it will take????

I guess I'd better get my back tyre sorted out this weekend / next week then......

You still haven't given me tyre details, I'm in Huntingdon this Sunday so could collect if the price I get from John is good enough, then you just need to get it put on.

Pete know's the way, was saying it's a couple of hours.

MK to Norwich... its approx 110miles. It takes me 2 hours in car so long as traffic is OKish, never been on my bike.

*MK to Bedford (via M1 j13)
*Bedford bypass (dual carraigeway)
*Bedford to Cambridge via Barford (speed camera x 2), st ives, cambourne (then speed camera) Cambridge bypass / A14
*Cambridge to Mildenhall (dual carraigeway)
*Mildenhall to Thetford
*Thetford to Norwich (dual carraigeway)

You may turn off A11 before Norwich baypass to get to new Ducati Dealers (checkout thier web site for local map)

Hope this helps, Paul

Didn't realise there was 2 8.30's in 1 day. It'll be a whole new experience. I have to say it is dependant on weather though. No way am I getting my bike too dirty it'll take a month to clean. Weather permitting I don't mind whether we do Yarmouth or just Norwich, whatever.

bottom line on this one is i feel like stu, if its just a little damp then fine but there aint no way i'm riding 3 hours in the rain to eat a soggy ice cream on a wind swept beach to then stand in an empty showroom cos no one came due to the rain to then ride 3 hours home in the rain...... if its gona be nice then great, if not.......... i'm getting back in bed

You still haven't given me tyre details

Tyre is now sorted - £115 for a BT014 170/60ZR17

I just let Universal's do it as they're local and its no grief - which is always worth a few quid to me.

Thanks mate.

Normally I'd take the ****, But having seen what a work of art your bike is, I fully sympathise with that. It must take some dedication to keep all that polished ally looking like that.

Pete - your no fun mate......

Seriously though, couldn't agree more. If it's pissing with rain - I'm staying at home... I'll keep an eye out on the weather forecast. Mags (Mrs Kevlar) is definately now coming - having bought a new helmet for the occasion yesterday. Just hope I don't slow you down too much as she beats me up if I go too fast.

I need to check when I get home tonight, but if I'm not double booked, I'm up for it! :D I am also happy to meet up somewhere along the way between MK and Norwich, can someone let me know what way you will all be coming across country and I'll meet up.

Please note: I've only got internet access due to some jiggery-pokery between 1.00pm and 1.30pm each day  , so if you've got my mobile number then text me or call me if you wish. Alternatively Chappers has my work e-mail address. ;)

Mate! I think they sold waterproofs at the Flitwick Open Day as well.. ;)  . Once we have an idea of the weather and who is going, I'll tie up with Bucks to see who is coming over from that direction.

So, who is a possible for Bedfordshire, other than Kevlar and Myself?

Chris? Martin? Mumsie? Dutchman? Tom? Any other takers?

Blimey! a post from the Beds rep; welcome back to the WWW Steve.

I will probably come to this (is that fence wide enough?) and sacrifice the pro-twins run, which is the next day (thank you nonnie)

Ps I've never been to Norwich; do they still do the "Sale of the Century" there?

Nah, but they do Trish now. Bring back Nicholas Parsons. Is he dead though?

Norwich is very nice, has 365 or so pubs and probably as many churches. Says a lot! Swardeston is just outside Norwich but I'm going there after and I'm sure my chap (former Norwich lad) will give you a quick guided tour. There will also be several DSC Norwichers there too.

I think he's still around. I think he still appears on "I'm sorry, I haven't a clue" on radio 4. (if you can in fact "appear" on the radio, but you know what I mean)

Looking forward to being escorted around Norwich by your old chap.

Runningman, less of the "old" please! (no only joking) I'd be happy to show you around Norwich. As Nonnie says there are a plethora of good watering holes to choose from and plenty of churches should anyone feel inclined to repent their sins for whatever reason, but the town centre is literally only fifteen minutes from Veloce's place so it's no bother if you want a guided tour ! Nonnie and I are heading that way after the open day anyway so you are more than welcome to tag along, or anyone else for that matter. Look forward to meeting you on Saturday and I hope the weather holds. Incidentally, I will be the very rusty rider so it wont be difficult to spot me, seeing as I havent ridden my bike in what seems like an age now!!

Yep still here and twice as ugly! But having real bad internet access problems!

Still out on the bike lots, off to the Isle of Wight this weekend for a four day bike rally, which was pre-paid, booked up and unfortunately then clashed with UKMOC events.

Still, the weather is improving so hopefully I'll see more of you guys out on the road in the next few months and I'll get the monthly Beds Meeting rolling again at the Embankment Hotel in Bedford.... :burnout: :burnout:

First of all I am shocked there is another one here in Ipswich! Hurrah! We have to meet up, perhaps for the Veloce run then? Wow!
Now, he only went there for work so you could look at it like he took it off the locals and that makes it ok yes?!

If you are meeting at Hockliffe at 8am, what way are you going to Yarmouth (as it would be silly for me to come all the way over there, just to drive back past Ampthill on the way for a paddle!

Still hoping to be able to make it (although engine oil leak seems to be getting drippier), but just me as Mrs Madhatter has other "domestic type thingies" to do of a girlie nature! :D

Sounds good to me.

However, as Mags is joining me I'll be sporting the 'Gay' saddle.

Also due to a problem with them lovely insurance people, I've had to ditch the loud cans and put the standard ones back on (for now), but this means the centre stand doesn't retract properly, making spirited cornering a no no (especially with extra ballast on the back), so I could be in for a slow ride - you may have to leave me behind. (Mags beats me up if I go too fast anyhow :D ).

Anyone got a spare sidestand I can borrow / buy???

Still somewhat concerned about the amount of oil I seem to have lost between Ampthill, the Isle of Wight and back to Ampthill, and the damn weather won't cheer up enough for me to get in the garden and see where it's coming from.. Initial weather indications look promising for Saturday, so fingers crossed, when someone agrees a route over.....

You're not kidding, soaked through and cold, nipples like bullets  - and then it starts hailing, **** that hurt - lumps of hail exploding on your visor so you can't see and an inch of water on the roads - then the lightening started.

Still, stopped for a cup of hot chocolate (with cream and a flake) and the sun stayed with us all the way home after that. A real enjoyable day all in all. :burnout:

sorry we missed it.
was raining an hailing this morning in peterborough.
then the sun came out so we wethe twelve instead of the monnie as its much more crap weather friendly(fairing, heated grips, doesnt chuck water all up karens back etc :D )
was raining hard before we got there so we stopped at a tea hut, then when we got to sunny hunny it hailed so we parked under the pier an i hid behind a concrete stanchion while karen acted as bait to try to ensnare a traffic warden(they love ticketing bikes there)so's i could tip him over the sea wall but there was none about.. ;) :D

a good day though all told, glad you all got back safe as did we, weather pretty bloody harsh on way home
