Good afternoon all
Hope everyone is well
It’s a while since I’ve posted but hopefully someone will be able to help me. I’m in urgent need of a specialist insurance provider for my 2004 Monster M1000ie. Current quotations I’ve been given are simply too expensive (I’m 67, clean licence and no convictions). As I’ve been on a multi bike policy (I’m told!) I can’t port over any of my 30+years NCB…don’t ask!! My bike, as with most monsters, has a few modifications to make it individual to me. I’m reluctant to turn it back to fully standard
So, having recently bought yet another bike (Husqvarna Norden Expedition), I’m now having to look for a stand alone policy for my Monster.
Any serious suggestions greatly appreciated

I recently took out a policy for my 2001 M750 with Bikesure.
I chose them because they sponsor his forum.
I had previously had my insurance terminated by another company after I declared some modifications to my monster.
This previous policy covered two motorcycles, although for the time being I have only taken out a policy to cover the monster, however I was told that I could add the second bike at a later date.
I was able to transfer 9 years worth of no-claims entitlement, which I was told was the maximum allowable.
I declared all the major mods to the monster, including carbon wheels, full aftermarket exhaust and footrests, carbon bodywork, etc. (although I didn't go into silly details such as titanium fastenings)
After providing proof of my previously accumulated no-claims entitlement I was offered a comprehensive policy of around £150.
I was 71 at the time with a clean licence.

I understand that any NCD can only be used on one policy though, presumably if you had 2 policies, each one could have it's own NCD?

I've had multibike policies for many years now and recently changed to Bemoto with a 'classic', multibike policy

When I took it out I was told that they don't use NCD on classic policies, not sure if that's just them or all classic policies? but, presumably if I was to go elsewhere in a few years I might not have a NCD anymore?

But I came to them as my previous insurer got more and more expensive every year, even with a long NCD and, in the end they obviously didn't want my business any more as they tried to stick a huge increase on me, taking it to around £700!

My understanding with classic bike policies is that they are much more understanding of modifications and, indeed they weren't concerned about any that I declared, they did want pictures from both sides, front and back of all the bikes for the agreed value evaluation though.

But I'm happy enough with my current policy. IIRC it is a shade under £400 for 3 modified, classic bikes with decent agreed values, the only oddity being that, as my bikes are 'classic' and therefore over 20 (or 25?) years old, that the 'riding other bikes' clause only covers other 'classic' bikes, meaning I can only ride old clunkers. :ROFLMAO:

Looks like I’ll need to have a good looks around and deal with some real insurance specialists/underwriters. I’ve managed to get 2 bikes with Devitt but they won’t touch the monster!

Yes this is exactly what I’ve been told by a few companies. By contrast, my cars on a multicar policy with admiral all have individual NCB assigned. So I can’t port move NCB to other insurance companies if I need to move a car to other insurers. Bikes seem to be expensive to insure at the minute?

It was Devitt who terminated my previous insurance after I notified them of modifications.

I'm with Bennetts at the moment and there about 20 mods which don't even need to be declared as they consider them normal upgrades. Give them a try, I have three bikes insured through them and they were the best price at the time as well.

I’ve just left Bennett’s as their renewal for my multi bike policy was astronomical. Even then they still had to go back to the underwriter to check to see if the monster could be covered. I might have to go back to them again. What sort of mods do you have declared on your bike?

Not sure why you're making life difficult for yourself?
Just click on the Bikesure ad at the top of this page and it will take you to their special page to insure Monsters.
Just fill in your reg and wait for their call.

I invited them to advertise on our forum because they are so easy to deal with and competitive on price.
I think they will even honour your NCB.

Two clicks....?

Nothing out of the ordinary, I have crash bobbins, end can, tail tidy, etc all of which they consider to be standard so it's covered. I think they consider mods to be performance related, bore, stoke, injectors, complete exhaust etc.
