New Monster for 2023?

If you've checked the Ducati site recently, you'll see that they've published the schedule for their new model 'premières', something that seems to be an annual event now.



The second release on 15 September entitled "Ready for More?" might hint at an upgraded Monster especially when considered together with this extract from a recently filed Australian homologation document, which mentions a Monster SP for the first time.



I can't find any official details of the new model but, if past experience of SP models is anything to go by, expect fully adjustable Öhlins front and rear to replace the non-adjustable stock suspension, (semi-active might be too much to expect), together with some carbon fibre goodies, fruity exhaust and perhaps uprated brakes (if not Stylemas then maybe M50s?).

That's my bet.

I'm afraid you're probably going to be disappointed Lucaz. The fact that all three models on the document share the same type approval reference suggests that they must have the same engines - so another 937cc I think.
 
My pal eventually got his Hypermotard SP on Thursday...10 weeks late....it’s very bling and when you compare the standard Monster which has the same 950 motor then I imagine there is a market to “bling it up”.....the SP Hyper carries an almost £3.5 k price hike......that’s the kind of added value that Signor Domenicali dreams about.....just saying’
 
Hmmm...the teaser for tomorrow's premiere has been released and I'm not now so sure that it will be a Monster SP.



The red lines could be arty laser beams or they could be part of a trellis frame, which, of course, the new Monster doesn't have. Also, if that's a fuel tank in the picture, it looks like a different shape from the current Monster and it's also wearing the 'Ducati' badge rather than 'Monster'.

I'm wondering if the premiere is going to be the widely rumoured V4 Diavel instead. "Ready for More?" All will be revealed tomorrow!

The usual SP goodies are all present:

Öhlins front and rear - check:
Termi silencers - check:
Steering damper - check:
Stylema calipers - check:
Lighter weight - check.

There's a slightly sportier riding position with taller saddle and more ground clearance too and, as part of the weight saving exercise, a Li-ion battery.
 
At £15k it competes directly with the V2 Streetfighter which although 12kg heavier has 40bhp and 6lb ft more. I would therefore hope the Monster SP will come in at under £15k, which would be good news.

Looking at the Hypermotard, the SP model of that commands a premium of around £3,600 over the base model. But that SP also has carbon fibre goodies and forged wheels, which are, I think, absent from the Monster SP. The base Monster is around £10,900 so I reckon £3,000 extra for the SP?
 
I think even at £15 quid it would be too much, SP or not it's still probably the ugliest motorcycle ever made, take the Monster logo of it and put Frankenstien, Ducati should be hanging there heads in shame for that abomination
