Well I was idly surfing classic bike auctions, when I came across this (see pic). £1400 auction price...... whoo.... is that really all that anyone would pay. I guess early Monsters have now become collectors items where total originality is everything. God how boring and depressing is that. Screenshot_20260418_224037_com.android.chrome.webp

I instantly remembered this bike from a magazine article in something like Back Street Heroes.
I think it must have been back in the 90's?
It was a deliberate attempt to offend Ducati purists and was done by a bunch of gun obsessed yobbos.
There were pictures of a model in her pants posing with a massive weapon in her hands.
Where the frame was chopped off at the back, they made tube stoppers from Remington rifle bullets, this theme recurred throughout the "build".

The article was written in a sort of broken street English with frequent and unnecessary expletives.
A vivid description was given of a session at the shooting range where they " ...shot the sh!t out of hundreds of pounds worth of genuine Ducati carbon fibre". (I might not have got the quote dead right from memory, so don't fact check me if you find the article.)

I wasn't so much offended at the time, as amused, but you get the picture!

£1400 is probably a bit steep for what is left of a Monster.. Okay if you knocked that bit off the end I suppose? So say £400?

And ..... its metallic puce and gold FFS.
I'd pay to not have to look at it.

OK not to everybody's cuppa, interesting to hear the back story.

I’d probably pay good money to se “the model with a massive weapon in her hands”……ooohhh matron….😝

The current market is all over the place but yes, many M600/600SS can now be had for less than 2k and particularly if not ticking all of those precious buyer's guide boxes.
