So have completed a simple mod, replacing the steeringhead stem: threaded collar & dust cover. The steel dust cover is recreated in carbon fiber, and the steel collar is replaced with a Ti version redesigned for additional weight saving. Total saving 50gms.

Very nice, I didn't think you were going to go ahead with this.
Even more weight shaved off by cutting more notches round the periphery. Could you drill holes round the flat part beween the centre hole and edge?
I like the two part mould for the dust cap too, to squeeze out surplus resin.

What about a Ti stem? I think they are pressed into the yoke with an interference fit but could also possibly be adapted for a circlip.

Well my first quote (for CNC machining) came out at £155 for one with subsequent items at £25, using my Ti. Now I've found "John" who works out of his garden shed, small old lathe, but he's skilled, knowledgeable and very conscientious. Making the project viable, and he made me three so that's two for sale, at £35 Inc UK p&p.
Have considered a Ti stem, but would want an engineers opinion on spec. Re drilling holes wanted to avoid cheese grater effect on CF cover, hence the recess around the rim where notches are.

I did notice that you had machined the ring for a nice fit with the cover.
And that the extra C-spanner notches will also give give much better access for the spanner. Can be a bit awkward to get it on the next notch when you've run out of room on the first swing.

What about blind drillings (Or millings) from underneath?
