yes!! yet more paint questions!!
Hi kids.
frame and rearsets going black- not a problem. valve covers, cam covers and lump going black/grey think Ive got that sussed. BUT.... I'd like to paint the exhaust steel? (not the cans) heatcote or engine paint should be fine? I really cant be arsed keeping it shiny! In theory engine/manifold paint should be fine, just wondering if anyones done similar? BTW ruth/julie after all the spraying excitement lets see the finished article? Thanks. Al -the yerbster- err Yerbury.x |

I painted my headers with PJ1 high temp flat black and it works fine. I cleaned them well with laquer thinner first. You do have to run a few heat cycles through them to cure them properly. If you dont build up the heat in stages the bends will overheat and blister the paint before the straight sections cure.
Start the bike untill you see a little smoke from the paint, shut it down to cool, then do it all over again and again until they cure all the way to the end. |
