Rust!
Argh! my baby has just started developing a mild case of rust on her handle bars. Anybody know the best way to deal with this? Sensible answers only please!

You're not alone..
Our M1000 is just under 1 year old (and only 1000 miles!) but the handlebars have already gone rusty. Ho Hum... Cheers. Lee. P.S. At least we don't have peeling paint |

Hey let's not tempt fate! At least I can treat it before it gets too bad. Is it quite common for Monsteres to rust? Mine's only 2 next month and although I do ride when it rains I've avoided all the winter salt and grit by keeping in tucked up in the garage. I also wash her fairly regularly too.

I think I have a set of aluminium bars in the garage. They came in a Ducati parts bag so I guess are available as a replacement part. Might be a bit harder to bend if the bike is dropped too.

Don't be encouraging me to drop it! I had a nightmare about that the other night!

fit those new DHM (mushrooms from Motrax) any good bike shop supply them... good for drops or low speed spills...
just keep putting monster away dry and clean it regularly, no more rusting much more than any bike, make sure your garage is dry, cos that's a big thing in itself, perhaps invest in a de-humidifier |

In all the low speed spills I've had only the barends, can corner's and footpegs/levers go down so I really can't see what the bungs would save. I think they would be great on a faired buke though. Anyone had any experience different to this??
