Noisy rear brake
Anyone got any ideas ?
My rear brake on 2000 750 has recently started making some pretty horrible hooting noises when gently applied and I roll to a halt, I have checked out the usual even removing the pads cleaning and refitting with a little Copperslip (anti seize paste) Still make the noise, any one got any ideas for a fix Thanks Jantel |

New pads?
Sounds like the pads have become glazed through lack of hard/regular use, did you notice if they were polished or shiney when you had them out? Try swapping the pads for a new set, it should only set you back £10-15 and I've seen it cure a similar problem on other monsters - including my own 600

As a bodge you could rough up the surface of the pads with wet n dry. Works for me..unless they are contaminated, which sounds unlikely.

I always thought that one reason for squealing was due to brake dust build up. You could try cleaning the caliper etc. Also you should put a THIN smear of coppergrease (copaslip etc etc) on the backplate of the pad where the piston contacts. DO NOT allow any grease to get on the friction pad side or on the piston sides as it will get in to the brake piston seals and destroy them. The only stuff to put on piston sides is silicon grease or rubber grease.
