A new swinging arm
Wonder if anyone could help me please.............:burnout:
I am looking to change the swinging arm from my M750. Does anyone know what I could replace it with? I want an ally one that can be polished. I have been told that I could put a 916 single sided swinging arm ? If I did this what other mods would I need to do i.e. new wheel, caliper etc etc. Sorry for being so thick ................. I am a woman ! |

Oooooooooo, what are you replacing?
A single-sided conversion costs $$$$$$$$$$$ (lots)... Or are you just looking to replace a rusty steel item for a spanglely ali jobbie?? Quite a few options available, what year is your bike? Cheers. Lee. |

Janey, go for it.
If you want any help PM AK, or I can give you his mob number for a chat. As Lee says, there are quite a few options. C |

Hi
My bike is a 98 750. The swinging arm currently on is the standard steel one - I have looked into having it chromed but there are rust patches on it and have been advised against it. (Only 2k miles and the bloody things rusty!) I saw a piccy of a monster on one of the forums and it had a single sided swinging arm and looked the dogs danglies. Just how much are we talking here to have a 916 single sided swinging arm and the associated mods..........? I get the impression were talking 2nd mortgage material? Are there any other swinging arms that I could use/adapt and maybe get Metmachex to brace or something? Either way my swinging arm has goda go ! p.s. Thanks for your help |

Jayney,
There is no question that the 916 style swinging arms look the business on monsters, but if the ££ puts you off, Ducati Performance sell a couple of double sided swinging arms - which fit the latter model monsters. Look on www.ducati.com in the performance catalogue. Also, and probably cheaper than the DP ones are Metmachex http://www.metmachex.co.uk/ who do them ready polished. They also list a single sided swinging arm for around £2700... Hope this helps, Rob

If all you want is a swinging arm that doesn't rust and can be polished I would have thought the simplest and cheapest option was to replace yours with one from a later monster that had an alloy one to start with.

I think your right Paul.
Just bin quoted £2500 from Metmachex for the signle sided - bit too much. They also advise getting one of an earlier monster which is ally. Okay.........any ideas where I can get a second hand ally one from.....and what year did they put ally ones on? Thanks |

Loads of Ali arms about at breakers.
Its not the year its the model Ali arms are fitted to most years. I fitted one to mine its much prettier. If you do get one from a breaker make sure its complete ie with all the adjusters and sliders etc. They can be pricey if bought seperately. |

Will this definately fit my bike ???? Looks completely different to the one currently on my bike... although as I said I am a woman and a lump of metal is a lump of metal to me !!
Will I just need to get rear wheel adjuster and spindle for it to fit? |

I dont' know, I only point the way..
There is one in Germany, also for £20 which looks more like a regular Monster one (I guess 6, 7, & 9 are all the same??) - got a few days left on the Auction but I reckon the price will stay the same. Don't have that link though. :-( |

It won't fit the early bikes, just the Mk2 Monsters. Cheers. Lee. |
