Sensor on top of horizontal cylinder

Do I need a special tool to remove the sensor from the cover? I have a new valve cover, which holds the oil cooler, but can't get the old sensor out!

Correct, I think there's a circlip on the inside if memory serves me well.

I think a hammer is usually the correct tool for removal of anything that is giving you grief!

Circlip inside, two o-rings, mounted in an Ali ring that's screwed into the cover. Good luck if you ever try to remove the ali ring from the cover.
900ie is same as 620 (no oil cooler mounts), 750 & 800. 1000DS and later motors are very different.

Thanks all. I'll have a go at it next weekend.

I may have a spare cover... The reason I'm putting a new one on is because I had to have the cooler mounts cut off on the original one

the sensor comes out ok but the ring is impossible to remove (ask ray he spent days trying to get mine off then gave up), you will need to buy a new ring too imho
