S4 Rebuild start to finish

Finally got round to writing up my long rebuild. The idea was to create a moody and dark monster, cafe racer style. After purchasing my stock S4 from Devon for a modest price, 15k on the clock but with a 996 engine conversion. It was very clean as it was a bike mechanics daily ride. I disposed of all the stuff I don't like, headlight surround, bars, seat cowl, hugger and chain guard. Sold these and used the funds to purchase the custom exhaust

Its more or less a straight pipe and my ears bleed. So after the first stage of mods this is what I ended up with

some will say this is how I should have left it and I almost did, but I wanted something unique.

A move to a new flat with a garage meant I could start to bring my dream alive. So up she went ties to the roof

and then the engine came out...............on my own. Don't so this on your own it's not easy!!

and also do not prep, sand and paint an engine in your bathroom

If anyone knows how to repair a bath please get in touch!!

Whilst the engine was been sanded within an inch of MY life the tank got sent to be painted and WOW

and the powder coating

I made the mistake of not lowering the bare frame onto the engine and building it up form there. Soon realised and corrected my error

A talented individual, I really should've warned him that all the locals tend to urinate in that spot when the leave the pub most weekends!

So after 5 months of hard work here she is in all her glory. I have to say I think it's the nicest looking monster I have seen, but then it is mine!

You're right, it did look good before, but I think you've done the right thing and the result is cracking.
I'm lovin' the paintwork.
Somebody described it earlier as "Batman's monster"...a description which I think sums it up nicely.
The exhaust is probably a little (ie a lot) too loud for my tastes, but it does suit the overall concept. I'm sure Batman would approve.
I'm glad to see that you've installed some belt covers too.
Looking forward to seeing it in the flesh.....weekender maybe ?

Did you use the rearset spacers and tail-light bracket in the end ?...I can't quite tell from the pics.

I can't decide whether I actually like it or not. There are some aspects which look great and others which are not to my taste but then again it's not my bike and as long as you like it who cares and it's certainly unique - well done sir

I think it looks fantastic well done indeed and the noise whats that going to sound like going through a tunnel should be interesting even flames thrown in for good measure
