Hi All
My name is Adrian and I have recently purchased a 2008 M696+.
I'm 50 now, so i thought its about time I had a Duke instead of the Honda I had been running for the past few years. I'm one of those annoying "fair weather" riders, who takes the bike on a summer blast as and when the mood takes me. I love the way the Monster is so easy to ride and lets those of us who are challenged in the leg length department reach the ground on both sides with ease. I've kitted my bike out in R&G bling, just in case. Now to try to get a few miles on the clock, (current 4,000). Only lingering regret is that I maybe should have bought the 1100 version. I guess there's still time. |

You can always get used to the bike then upgrade next summer.
And welcome to the club.

Welcome
Hi Adrian,
Good choice, my M696+ is 3.5 years young, commuting and weekend blasts, and some (not enough) longer trips too. Have been thinking about going up to the 1100evo, but keep putting it off.....you will have plenty of fun .... enjoy.

Hi Adrian. TBH the 696 is well enough solo or odd pillion ride. plenty of power there. The only advantage of 696 is they are lower than the 796/1100 so if you are finding yourself to tall you can get it raised with the 796/1100 rear shock pivot for not too much money.
See how you get on with it and enjoy it. Welcome Ps someone may be along soon and try to flog you a UKMOC bikecover or UKMOC mug LOL

You could do a lot worse than change the front sprocket to a 14 tooth one from a 15 tooth one, which should help with low speed chugging.
And if you're feeling flush , get yourself to BSD Performance in Peterborough, for an ECU remap which will really help run the bike smoothly.

Thanks all for the welcome.
I have just bought my on-line ticket for the bike show at the NEC in a couple of weeks, and of course will head for the Ducati Monster 20th Anniversary displays, (to collect my free brolly!). I'll also be checking out the new stuff. |
