about 10k rpm from memory - but you will get lights up over the top of the dash when it happens.
Why?

This is how you change a 796 - probably the same!

With key off slide back and hold the LH Mode slide switch…then whilst holding turn key on
The dash will show sub menu…release button…slide forward and release till you see the word ‘SET’ appear…..then slide back and hold for a couple of seconds to select…
Now you will see the word UK…..push slide forward once and release to show EU…then slide back and hold for a couple of seconds to select.
Once this is done key off.

When you turn it back on it should be in KPH.

You can repeat to change back.

Cheers

Fair play to you Lucati!

The number of times I've seen that Q asked that no one could answer! That's a keeper!

Lucati,
That is a really useful bit of info. I spend 4-6 weeks a year on the bike on the continent. I can do the conversion in my head 'cos I go over there so often, but this means I don't have to. Nice one. Thanks.

No problem, glad to be of help for once!
I had to work it out because I took delivery of my new 796 about a month ago and the dealer hadn't changed it over.
