when, why was Haydon sacked?

I just read something about ex-airwaves ducati rider Haydon....last I knew he had a knackered hand. I know they had a dilemma with Lavilla doing so well but to sack Haydon seems like a harsh way of solving it.

Not sacked..went by mutual consent (ie paid off !!). THey were in a very difficult position really..couldnt really waste GL's results. DO fel for James though - top lad.

AIRWAVES DUCATI CONFIRM RIDER LINE UP

London, UK (22nd April)- With the third round of the British Superbike
Championship at Mallory Park rapidly approaching on 24th April, Airwaves
Ducati were today pleased to finalise their line up. The team announced that
Gregorio Lavilla will ride the Airwaves-Ducati 999F04 for the remainder of
the season as they continue their bid for the championship title at the
Leicestershire circuit. The Spaniard has been installed alongside
21-year-old Leon Haslam. The team also confirmed that James Haydon, for the
good of the team and Airwaves Ducati, would stand down for the rest of the
season.

Airwaves Ducati have made an excellent start to the season with Haslam and
Lavilla riding the Airwaves Ducati 999F04, currently lying second in the
championship. Having secured four podiums from four starts, the performances
of 30-year-old Lavilla have been very impressive and this has lead to James
making this difficult decision to enable the team to make today's
announcement.

Team Manager, Colin Wright, confirmed: "The last couple of weeks have not
been an easy time for all involved but the team are extremely grateful to
James for standing down and allowing Gregorio to continue riding. We
appreciate that this was the hardest of decisions for him to make and are
pleased to confirm that James will be with us at Mallory Park supporting the
team. We are fully focused on continuing the excellent progress we've made
in the first two rounds and are looking forward to the rest of the season."

James, although disappointed, commented: "This was a very difficult decision
to make but, for the good of the team and Airwaves Ducati, I will stand down
to allow Gregorio to continue to fly the flag for Airwaves Ducati. I wish
the team all the best for the rest of the season."

The team will now be turning their attentions to the race weekend at
Mallory
Park, aiming to secure their first victories of the season and keep the
pressure on the other teams.

That must have been a tough decision, 'for the good of the team'....that phrase could haunt him or land him a nice berth. best of luck to him, he's not had much recently has he.....

My money is on Toseland to go next, unless he can sort it out sharpish. The Suzuki may well be the better bike this year and will probably take Corser to the title but the Duke should still be competing.

Anyone else noticed how well Hodgson is doing so far in the AMA Championship.

Hodgson is in second overall I think behind Matt Mladin.

Haydon, well he ain't that good really is he?

Toseland, will probably get the boot but he hasn't got the bike this year. I wouldn't be surprised if Ducati are just waiting for the desmo 999 to be released so aren't developing the current race bike any further.

Only my opinion of course.

Not too sure about that, wouldn't Laconi be running round with him if it was a bike thing? Laconi has been getting on the podium which is still impressive and Lavilla is doing pretty well too so I don't think its a dog just yet.

James Haydon will don Rizla Suzuki leathers and race as a substitute for John Reynolds for the next two rounds of the British Superbike Championship at Oulton and Mondello Park.
