crankcase protectors fitting problems
i have a Cranckcase protector on my M750 for years with a 15 tooth front sprocket , its a tight fit but OK
trying to fit one on my S4 i have a 916 one and a smaller one for a M750? neither seems a good fit with the 15 tooth sprocket they only fit with a 14 tooth which i dont like , have beent them and opened up th holes from 6mm to 7mm but its all too close for comfort chain is less than 1mm from the protector !!!!!!!

M900, S4 and 916 should be interchangable I would have thought.
Some measurements that worked on mine, here.. http://www.ukmonster.co.uk/monster/s...ght=case+saver Ten minutes with some tin snips and the side of a washing machine should do the trick...

I'm probably only repeating what you already know, but I finally managed to fit one to my 750 after early attempts had convinced me that there simply wasn't enough room with the std 15T sprocket.
The one currently fitted is so close that it very nearly rubs (in fact it does to a certain extent .. there are witness marks). Its been fitted for a couple of years now .. maybe 5000 miles or so. The point being that its surprising how close they can be and still be fine. Like I said, you probably already know this, unless my yr2000 750 has different cases to yours, but I just wanted to emphasise that it can be VERY close and not cause a problem. In my case (sorry .. pun) persistence was the key to eventual success. |

Sounds like the protector is a bit too small? I have them on both the M900 & 916 and they both fit fine with 15t sprockets.
I did have to grind a piece out of the one for the Monster as there was a 'lump' in the casting that was in the way but otherwise fine.

I've been told: the +/- 750 engines have the output shaft a 'few' mm closer to the crank than the 900+ engines. If that's true (I believe it is) it explains your issues.
