Cheap battery on ebay

Evening

Havent posted in a long while.....

Just paid £28.72 for a new battery for the monster. It has a 12month warranty so for the price whats the down side??

Going to change the belts myself so any tips?

I only paid £44 for a band new Motobatt for the naughty bike a week ago.

Of course since it arrived the old battery has upped it's game and started on the button everytime!

If you haven't already .. study the Ducatitech/Chris Kelley video.

Ideally, double check the belt tension using both the allen key method and the frequency method.

Check that the idler/tensioner bearings run smoothly before you fit the new belts.
A couple of club members have had these fail and the general feeling seems to be that after 25/30k miles its worth changing them.

Tensioner bearings easy to change. I got mine from simply bearings and a set of 5 inc the clutch pressure plate same one for £20.16 inc post
SKF 6201-2RSH

Remove clip and gently punch pin through on a sturdy vice and replace . 10 mins job

The two methods will not agree because the much revered allen key method will leave the belts far too loose.

Yes, I do have a 1000ds engine and I've done the job three times so I'm talking from experience.

Downside is that its a sealed lead acid battery so could leak acid. Motobatt are AGM type and less likely too.
