Wimbotsham?

This evening I have replied to an email from the Fenman committee asking if we would like another plot for a stand if the show goes ahead in August.
I replied YES.

This is not a confirmation that the show is going ahead, but the wheels are turning in that direction with hope and faith... Looking good.

Off the cuff; I recall vividly Capo saying in early 2020 (the last time I saw him!) "Lets push the boat out in August and book a hotel in Wimbotsham or Downham Market and get some friends together for a meal and an overnight before the show."

He was fed up with the lockdown even then. Sadly neither he nor the Fenman made it last year. So what say we take up his idea?

On another hopeful note, I believe that Iconic Classics at Oakham are still planning to have an Italian day on May 30th. One to pencil in the diary for now. I will confirm nearer the time.

Lookin' up innit? Stay safe my friends..

Whilst I live about 40 minutes from Downham Market ( that's 12r time!) I'm up for an overnight stay in D/Market and a few beers.

The Iconic Classics show is scheduled to go ahead, the local branch of DOCuk are planning a stand for the show( their fb page has details)
If you fancy some company on the day, we can meet up near Stamford and ride on to the show.

I just had to Google Wimbotsham to find out what/where it is turns out to be a small village on the edge of the known world, sounds like a great idea

Sorry Kato, The Fenman show at Wimbotsham is such a local legend that I didn't even consider an explanation.
Basically it fills the entire, admittedly small, village with motorcycles of every conceivable denomination. Local folks give up their gardens and drives for bike parking and serve snacks and drinks. It's more like a festival or massive street party.
The main show is in the Primary school, with concours judging in the playground and auto jumble, club and trade stands on the sports field.

Traditionally falling on the August bank holiday Monday, Capo's idea was to stop over on Sunday night and have a big nosh up Sunday evening, before riding on to the show.
We've always attended and had a club ride in, but last time was the first time we had a stand, which worked out really well.. Thinking of coming?

No, they all bob up and down while punters pay 50p for five shots with a low powered air gun with wonky sights.

Norfolk 'n' good.

Great film you flagged up there Kato. Notice how the cameraman suddenly zoomed in when he got to Capo's bike and paid attention... Nice M900Sie beside it too..

I had news from the Fenman committee this weekend that they have decided to cancel it again this year.

In fact the committee vote was just over 50% in favour of going ahead but the nay vote left them too short handed to run the show. They decided to give it a miss and spare the village from a mass invasion while the pandemic is still at large.

So that's that. Roll on 2022..
