Trickle charger connection for 2019 1200S

Looking to get a trickle charger connected to my 19 plate Monster 1200S, I'm a little bit loathe to get the Ducati one as I already have an Optimate 4 and a Noco G1100 so was hoping to get an adapter to enable me to use one of them. Has anyone here done the same and got a link to the correct adapter please? cheers

Optimate

Hi Derek, you can now get a Ducati adaptor for the optimate 4, sadly a late addition to the accessories as I bought the Ducati one too!

Welcome to the forum by the way, has Yanbo been in touch yet, he is on Anglesey, and so is my previous monster 696.....spotted it on eBay!

I have a direct connector to the battery on my 1200s, you can get them from fleabay. I would put some heat shrink over it before fitting as the heat from the engine has hardened the plastic covering on mine so make sure you route it as far from the engine as you can. Mine pops out right next to the rear brake master cylinder. Make sure you get the type with a waterproof cover.

I believe this is the lead Mike is referring to:

https://www.optimate.co.uk/products/o47-ducati-lead

More expensive than a plain eyelet lead directly attached to the battery but, as I believe battery access on the 1200 is a real pain, you may well consider it to be worth it!

That’s the correct one. Getting to the battery on a 1200 is a huge PITA so this is easily worth the money. I swapped my battery last year (for a lithium, 2.5kg lighter than stock and twice the cold crank amps) and it took me about an hour and a half ....
