Thanks Lud.

Lot’s of information to digest there. I’m on the slowest of go slows at the moment, my motivation is very low what with this constant cold spell we are having up here + work and wife commitments.

I’ll report back in due time.

P.S. not got an answer from Oberon yet, apparently the guy dealing with the part is off ill…he’ll be back next week I believe.

That’s Oberon finally tested my clutch slave which took way longer than it should have (due to unforeseen circumstances).

The good news is the clutch slave is totally fine and will get a new alu insert and shipped back to me.

The bad news is the clutch slave isn’t the issue, so no easy fix there. The oberon guy has again suggest excessive chain slap over thousands of miles and or sometimes the alu part doesn’t sit tight against the casing, making process of being loosened off that bit easier…make of that what you will.

So I’m thinking best option…is replace the bearing it’s a cheap item anyway. I’ve got lot’s of other stuff on at the moment so it’ll be a while before I get round to it.

I’ll report back in due time and with photos of the internals when i get to that point.

Also i may sell that Oberon and buy a different make…would anybody be interested in a ‘as new’ ‘tested by Oberon’ clutch slave if was to sell it?

Here officially endeth this thread (i hope and pray )

So that’s the new clutch pressure plate bearing fitted and old one removed. The old one was in very good condition with very little wear and the rolling action was spot on.

It’s been changed out now anyway and the fitting cost was very reasonable. So I can only cross my fingers and hope it just threw “a tantrum”.

Runs and rides perfectly.

Glad you didn't find any horrors in there, Ron. It means I won't have to worry about my own Evo now!

Yep everything was tip top inside. 20,600 miles, ridden hard and clutch less up shifts.
