Leaving the EU or not, if this actually takes off we all know our Government would be the first to sign up.

If this happens I will almost certainly sell my Ducati.

No speed limiters fitted to any of my bikes and never will be.

It could only apply to new build bikes with modern ECU + satnav so it won't affect any of the old'uns I'm likely to be riding...

You can just see it on the motorways, cars with a single MPH attempting to overtake within the next 20 miles.
Brilliant idea

Leaving the EU.. we will be great again, the economy will rise to rival icelands, the roads will be pothole free and there will be free beer. Pile of crap, worst idea ever backed by brain damaged muppets .. just my opinion

“This legislation represents a major step forward for road safety in Europe, and could save 25,000 lives within fifteen years of coming into force. But it will only apply to new vehicles. So it’s incredibly important that a final deal is reached as soon as possible, so cars with these new safety features fitted as standard start driving off production lines sooner rather than later.

I doubt it, they would lose far too much revenue from speeding fines & speed awareness courses.

Tests with these limiter systems have already proved very dangerous causing rear end crashes when the cars brakes were activated by the computer sensing nearby 40mph roads on 70mph motorways,, lethal ??

It will happen because they can.
All bureaucracies seek to take power wherever they can find it to perpetuate themselves, the EU being one such example.

Keep EU aside there is a more detailed report on mcn and few others Re cars and that system.

1. Speed limiter can be switched off by driver like you now can set door locks to autolock when driving or not. Via main computer.
2. Speed limiter will temporarily go off of you floor it. If you did not switch it off as per point 1 that is. It will allow couple of bursts of speed before it restricts you.
3. It is based on GPS and road sign recognition so doubt will happen for bikes for long long time.

At least this way they can keep the fine revenue flowing, no doubt by direct debit from the owners 'compliance' account...

There is a report out that it will NOT affect bikes, I think it's in the MCN.

It's dangerous anyway but even more so for motorcycles. Can you imagine being mid corner and it cuts in?
