Identifying a wire, oil temp sensor?

Hi all, I need some help, I'm fitting a (US) 2004 1000s wiring loom all going fine except for one mistery wire. The wire comes off the main loom as part of a minor branch, it's located mind way down the bike, with other wires for the solenoid & the oil pressure switch, plus the neutral indicator. The wire itself has a simple spade type connector on the end with a plastic cover, it seems to be coloured orange with blue (or maybe Black), on a diagram I've seen it might be for the Oil temp sensor (inst) which I assume means instruments. If this is for an oil temp sensor where is it located? All help gratefully accepted, Bitza

If it is, it's on the oil screen cover. If the bike is ready.... it will show _ _ _ _ if it's not connected.

Thanks for that Stopintime, I've found the sensor but it doesn't have any connector on it (for the female spade connector on the loom) so I guess it's been broken off. Can anyone confirm that the sensor has a built-in connector? Bitza

Have just taken a look on ebay at sensors but even new ones don't have any spade type connectors, what they have on the exposed end is like 2 round discs on a spindle, as though the connector should clip around the spindle some how it's not a connector I'm familiar with, can anyone assist, maybe even a photo of the connector. Thanks Bitza.

The female spade/flat connector on the loom slides in sideways onto the round brass looking dish.

Thanks for the help Stopintime, My sensor had had the top disc snapped off so I've had to order a new one but at least I now know what to do! Thanks again Bitza.
