Ohlins rear shock 1100 Evo

Hi Does anyone happen to have an Ohlins rear shock to fit a Monster 1100 evo.
or perhaps a Nitron.

Would go Nitron or Wilbers over Ohlins.

I have a Wilbers on mine.

Chris.p is right - you'll get better value for money with Wilbers or Nitron. You definitely pay a premium for the Öhlins name (I'm a bit of a label tart so I paid more for the Öhlins!).

With Nitron you've got the added bonus of a British company who will build one to your exact spec. and riding style.

If you go for the recommended Öhlins (DU737) be aware that the standard spring is a 115Nm. If you're 80kg ( +/-5kg) you may find this too firm. I changed mine for 105Nm. Even if the spring is ok for your weight, the Öhlins as delivered has too much preload - there's virtually no static sag so it tended to top out over bumpy roads until I wound off some preload.

Of course, almost any change will be an improvement on the stock Sachs shock, which, in my opinion, is hampered by the progressive spring. Note that the Öhlins springs fit straight onto the Sachs shock so you could just try a new spring.

My old Öhlins spring went to crawsue, who fitted it to his Sachs unit. I'm not sure how many miles he's done on it yet but I think he's happy with the result.

Not done many miles since fitting the Ohlins spring to my standard Sachs shock ( spring ex Luddite) but having it properly set for sag certainly felt much more compliant with Ohlins spring.
Once I'm finished all this home decorating maybe I'll get a proper try.........
