Monster R satnav and optimate lead position

Hi all. New here.
Had a 998 and 999 and have now gone all super practicle with a Monster R.

Wanted to ask about fitting a iPhone holder to the bike as a Satnav.
Anyone done this off the Olins Damper Mount to keep it centralised?
I've seen satnavs mounted on the left handlebar but wanted to try to keep it out of the wind and more central. Any ideas welcomed thanks.

Also not really looked at the bike in detail yet but was wondering where the best place to position my optimate lead would be?

Many thanks.

not a 1200R but I have a transverse damper on my 1000 and use a RAM mount on one of the riser bolts http://www.ultimate-mobiles.co.uk/At...olt_Attachment
which allows the case to clear the damper when mounted sideways

(it's an iPhone5 not a huge 'phablet' and works pretty well with the Copilot app

What Slob said, use a Ram mount fitting, look them up on eBay.

The R had a USB port under the seat for the Ducati charger. Fitting an additional optima the lead might be challenging as the battery is hidden well in the front of the swing arm

Hi guys, thanks for the replies and info.
So you reckon a RAM ball mount could work off the rear Olins swivel mount as pictured here?

@slob, I take it those big yellow arrows on your dials are ducati's recommended position to run the needle at?

You'll need to check the thread as the mounts are available with various metric sizes

I hope not, redline is only 8.5K (which is about 135mph on my gearing) it was to remind me to keep right on a solo Europe trip last year

yeah a handy reminder. I got on ok in France until I got off the motorway to an 8 exit busy roundabout. Traffic coming at me all directions.. Got half way round and lost the plot... the sat Nav was invaluable to look down to and note the direction of travel.

I'll checkout the RAM stuff. a small ball mount would work well off that rear damper fixing but not sure if the bolt may swivel slightly or is fixed. Will take a look and measure thread tomorrow. Seems a suitable place that would keep case out of the wind.. perhaps a bit low for eyesight but not many other options besides out on the bar.

Always fun getting to learn a new bikes layout.
Will post pics once I get something sorted.
