Warning lights - Anorak question

What model year did this happen then?

Found today that the two spare early Monster style Warning light blocks I have are slightly different.

I believe they are both genuine Ducati parts.

Not obvious in this image:

But obvious here:

Well, isn't that interesting? Well, I think so anyway but then I fit the 'anorak' demographic of the title!🤓

Are there any of those clock-style date codes hidden away on the insides?

A quick internet check for early Monsters throws up these images:

Our very own Albie's 1993 example

A 1994 M900

1995 M900

1996 M900

1997 M900

1998 M900

If you look closely, the 1993 - 1995 models have the symbols on the cover, while the '96, '97 & '98 versions are printed on the lamps themselves. So, based on that, I'd say 1996 was when the change took place.

Now, where did I leave my anorak?

Well observed Det.Insp. Luddite.
I confirm ‘93 & ‘94 are legend on cover.

Interestingly the photo of the 1997 bike shows the handlebar clamps as the two piece items whereas on my 1997 900 it originally came with the larger one piece clamp- until I changed it for the individual ones a couple of years ago when I changed the handlebars.

While we’ve got our anoraks on, Albie’s restored bike has got a metal tank clip- is that how they came originally? I thought those were only fitted to later bikes.

You are correct and that picture was day 1 of ownership and was hence removed and sold on. Also the tank was replaced and presumption was a replaced complete tank as had no seam in key.

The yellow '98 bike has a plastic tank clip and what looks like a seamed tank to me?

Yes my '97 900 is very similar- according to the original sales brochure 1997 was the last year the fuel tanks were sprayed by hand rather than in robot booths, presumably that coincided with the font change from the old Cagiva owned one to the current corporate version.

Ok, it seemed a little late to me for the seamed tanks, but I'll get my anorak, er no its a jacket actually!

Dragging this thread up, I must apologise that I asked the question then didn't thank everyone for their input.

I looked the thread up as I'm having a bit of a clear out in my Stash of parts, and am going to be putting a few Carbie Monster parts up for sale, including both the warning light clusters in my image.
Now I can put a better description up, thanks.

Nasher.
