Just been to my mates to watch the football, where my stand somehow sank through the tarmac and my bike fell over! Looks like minor damage, broke the end of the clutch lever and grazed my bar end. But I know from experience it can be a lot worse. Just glad my new paint job took no damage.

I had a recent incident with my old Honda vfr…affectionately called donkey…it fell over on a slope, in the opposite direction to the side stand. Whilst I was paying for fuel.

Minor damage for the most part; brake lever and indicator. However the crash bung pierced the fairing which is annoying. Nevermind tho it’s only the old donkey.

bugger! but as you say, quite lucky, it’s ridiculously easy to dent the tank on early shaped monsters.

I had to ride it home after and seemed ok just awkward with the clutch lever being broken.
Still it’s a good excuse to upgrade

If you want to treat yourself and money's no object, I can recommend ASV levers. They have a huge amount of adjustment and fold up in a drop so shouldn't break.

Expensive but beautifully made. Available in a range of colours.

I have been looking at ASV levers but can only seem to find them in short?

IIRC they should be the same levers as for the 996 as the same type of master cylinders were used. They changed to a semi radial type 999 type master for the later Testastretta S4R and RS.

Thanks for the info. Darren. That would make sense as the ASV site lists the same model for both the early S4R and the 996.

So, Daniel, if your brake levers look like this:

rather than this:

then the 555 should be correct levers.

Be careful when you remove the levers because of part of Part #5 which if yours are the first type it will drop out and you'll probably lose it. It's a little black plastic spacer that sits between the micro switch and the lever and is only held in place by the lever itself. Without it your brake light or clutch interlock won't work.

Looks like you would need to buy the complete micro switch in order to get a new one.

I'm surprised at Ducati (Or Brembo?) for still using that farty little bit of plastic to actuate the micro switches.. I thought Noah upgraded from those shortly after doing the Ark?

Moto Rapido do stock them separately but they fall below their minimum postage limit, so you would have to bulk your order up with something else.

The farty bit is 5.2mm diameter rod x 5.2mm long. Apparently a 13/64" ball bearing will do the trick.

I think someone used a piece of a plastic cocktail stirrer. The large ones are about the same diameter. It's a cr@p design and I suspect if he's already removed the levers to try the replacement ones and didn't realise, then they will already be on his workshop floor.
