Slipper clutch?

I'm thinking over the upgrades I may make to my bike over the winter months.

I think the slipper clutch might be a good upgrade as the clutch is due for a refurb anyhow. (plus a bling cover!) There seems to be tw types with either four or six springs - is less more or better to have six? Anyone have any comments, wisdom to share?

These are on sale at a great price, anyone any experience of them or this company at all?

Thanks!

I can recommend the Sigma 48-tooth version, which I fitted to my S2R. Beautifully machined, worked a treat and great technical support from Neil Spalding himself.

Being 48-tooth, it's also quieter than the standard clutch - whether that's a plus point depends on how you feel about the signature dry clutch rattle!

Well I'm encouraged by seing you two are both pro slipper cluches -best mod ever is quite some praise.

Luddite I am sure the Sigma 48 is a piece of art & engineering marvel but ebay prices are £950+ (some are over £1400!). The German jobby might not b e quite so wonderful, but at £290 its more likely to get a home on my bike...

No noise reduction allowed. A loud dry clutch for me!

I didn't think Sigma clutches were that much- have a look on their website, you might find it a little more encouraging:

http://www.sigmaperformance.com/slipperclutchrange.html

It doesn't have such a great name as 'Antihopping Kupplung' though but as Luddite says, Neil has been the man in the past when it comes to Monsters so they know their stuff:

http://www.sigmaperformance.com/technical.htm

This in particular is a good read for those with an air cooled 2v:

I'll call them today and see what they have.

The "48 teeth performance " versions reccomended by Luddite are way more expensive than the other Sigma slipper clutches offerred by suppliers on eBay.

Antihopping Kupplung" sounds like a breathing problem!

The article on the Sigma page was interesting too- thanks for the heads up Flip.

Yep, I agree even a basic Ducati Performance 12 tooth ramp type one is a vast improvement. I have a 48 tooth basket and plates which I'm hoping will fit and work ok with the standard DP slipper hub when the current basket wears out.

Duh it was all on the tinterweb homepage. The Carlos Fandango with full bells and whistles:

Ducati 48T Kit. All bikes with air-cooled clutches since 1990 except 1098/1198.
Six ramp, dry type. Hard anodised in grey with a Red pressure plate using a ceramic friction surface. Uses 1098/1198 springs. Includes Clutch centre, 48T Alloy clutch basket and 48 tooth clutch pack

£799 plus VAT (Ref:003) which is £960 (ex shipping)

Sigma have others available that are cheaper.

I somehow doubt that the original e bay "titanium" clutch assembly is in fact made of titanium, it is just a description of the colour.
