German eBay spot - "Brand new" 1993 Monster 900 - Not my bike

Ducati monster in Germany - 1993 model. Like a brand new old one. Just to clarify this is nothing to do with me I just thought it to be an interesting bike to share on here. Not something seen every day.

5 miles on the clock -

The price has gone up a bit since the last time it was offered:

It's probably the same one, though I suppose they could be selling off a warehouse full of them one at a time....?

The handlebar clamps haven't survived that 5Kms very well!

OK so they put it on ebay at a high price and it doesn't sell so they put it on a month later back at a higher price.

Best buy it now before the price gets silly...

The last time I saw it for sale was in Jan 2016, so if you miss it this time you may have to wait another few years till it’s offered for sale again. By then it really could be silly money!

Just because it hasn’t travelled far doesn’t make the quality of fixtures and fittings any better than the others produced then. When rebuilding, should we aim for an authentic crepe finish?

Lovely bike. Just one thing, the forks are a long way through the clamps, is that how M900s are meant to be? Don't think mine is....

Depends which forks you’ve got fitted, but for non adjustable Showa like on the German bike: from the '01 m750 manual.....279mm from bottom of lower yoke to top of fork.

Yes, non-adjustable Showas, however mine is a 93 bike. There is a machined part of the fork legs at the lower yoke which looks as if it should be for their clamping area, but if the forks were at 279mm that would be outside the range of that. Hmm.

Has anyone seen any other measurements? The Haynes doesn't help on this.

Tim, if your bike is handling okay leave it alone, as altering the fork rake will affect the steering.
If you have extenders on your rear hoop then the forks would probably have been raised also and so have less protruding above the yoke?

Sorry, I probably mean, the forks lowered to raise the bike..

Not the best photo but the only one to hand- my '97 (albeit with Marzocchi forks) bike has them pulled through the yokes.

Plus the rear is raised up on the hoop- I like it a little lively

As for the German bike, pretty sure it was on eBay last year for £15,000.
Never worth that money unless someone wanted it for a collection- it would cost a fortune to re-commission to get it on the road again.

It’s back again, and under £20k this time.

I still wonder if they’ve got a warehouse full and are selling them one at a time to avoid flooding the market?
