Happened yesterday morning... I laughed so hard I nearly lost the back-end.

Dude in a full-face racing helmet with dark visor, cladded up in full leathers. Fair enough. No problems there. Tasteful colours too.

He was on a Piaggio MP3.

that's quite funny, but the first time you lose the front end...

Every time I see one of those I think they're kind of sensible for town. There's even a 500cc Gilera 'sports' one. You wouldn't win many friends in London parking bays tho.

When I did my DAS there was a boy who turned up in full race leathers, matching gloves, boots and lid to do his CBT on 50cc scooter.

I could cycle faster than 30mph (in my younger days) and only wore shorts and a t-shirt!

That always gets me - us bikers share the same roads as cyclists in the same traffic conditions. Sure, they have more manoeuvrability, but at similar speeds they'll get hurt far more in their clingfilm shorts and leotards.

I suppose it makes you feel less invincible and therefore more careful.

It's like the argument for not having air bags in cars, with air bags and lots of soft bits you feel safer and drive faster, put a metal spike in the middle of the steering wheel and you'll drive much slower and more carefully.
