1100 evo termi install

Not sure if this has been asked before but I am looking at the termis for my 1100 evo. I will be doing the installation myself but have read on different pages that a TPS reset is required. Some people have said that you do this yourself with turning on and off a number of times, some say it does it automatically every time you start the bike and others say that it needs the dealer.

Anyone know the definitive answer?

Have a look at this thread for full details:

http://www.ukmonster.co.uk/monster/s...ad.php?t=55198

In short, you need to do this:

"...start the engine and wait until the third line of engine oil temperature indicator on the dashboard switches on. At this point, the control unit adapts itself to the new characteristics of the exhaust system."

Then let the engine cool down again.

NB - DO NOT touch the throttle at all during this process.

The procedure is taken directly from the installation instructions that come with the Termis.

Happy to be able to help, Jimi.

A couple of questions - what version are you going for? The polished stainless or the carbon race?

Also, is the ECU included in the deal? Both Termi ECUs will disable the exhaust valve but only the race (carbon) ECU will also disable the lambdas.

Whether you're getting the ECU or not, I'd recommend sending it to Neil at Cornerspeed http://cornerspeed.co.uk/tuning.php for a remap. It will run better than either of the Termi maps. You'll find numerous recommendations on the forum for his services.

If you're getting a Termi ECU you could even get Neil to remap your standard unit and sell on the Termi ECU to offset the cost. Someone with an Arrow, SC or similar system might be quite grateful for one of those.

Cheers for the advice.

Looking at the stainless for £925 with ecu, filter etc.

I know they are homologated but can I still remove the dB killers?

Yes, you can remove the baffles. They're held in by a small caphead screw on the underside.

Be aware that, if they've not been removed before, they will be secured with a small spot of weld that you'll have to break, so make sure you use a good fitting allen key (4mm) to avoid rounding out the screw head.

Also, be careful withdrawing the screws; if you catch the screw head on the edge of the hole, it'll pop off the allen key and fall down inside the end cap. Then it's a real pain to fish out (don't ask me how I know!).

I actually find it's too loud with the baffles out and have fitted these from Desmoworld:

https://www.desmoworld.com/desmoworl...-paar-53?c=497

The effect is about half way between baffles in and baffles out.

Finally, your ECU will still be using the lambdas, which contribute to the hunting and surging at low speed/steady throttle openings. If that bothers you, get a remap from Neil at Cornerspeed as mentioned above.

Enjoy - and post up a photo once it's installed!

Holy **** that is LOUD!!!!!!

Installed the Termis today and what a difference the setup makes. Installed one of those Motodemic headlights also, spent most of the morning crimping wires. Overall the bike is looking good and sounding even better. One of the baffles was a bit stiff but with me pulling and a neighbour shocking it with a hammer it came out eventually and I also nearly went on my arse! Scotland beckons tomorrow so will get some photos up at some point.

Also I did drop one of the screws into the end cap!!!!! But luckily I have some tiny magnets for my models and managed to get it out after a few seconds!

Cheers for your help Luddite.
