Hopefully someone can answer this.. It's an easy question.
I have some M1100 handlebar clamps and I am trying to measure them to establish the exact bar diameter that they take, It appears to be 28mm, but is difficult to measure due to the split having X amount of material missing between the two halves.
Presumably these are for those "Fat Bar" things? Can anyone tell me the exact bar size please?
Secondly, are there adaptors that will reduce the clamps down to take 22mm or 7/8" bars?

Bit of an offbeat project really, not to do with a bike directly. Thanks in advance.

Fatbar = 1-1/8" ~ 28.6mm
Regular = 7/8" ~ 22.2mm

adaptors are available on ebay but a cheaper idea is to make some aluminium spacers in almost half moon to take up the space and squeeze.

Sorry to hear you're not yet up to speed... How's that musical instrument coming on?

It's just a showy thing to mount a piece of carbon tube in, so if we can't find 28.6mm tube, then we'll have to think about some spacers for 22mm.

reading between the lines, i see what you’re up to.
i found a short length of 28mm carbon tube, hope it’ll be with you next week.

I own a nice example of an early "toy" guitar. A Watkins Rapier. These were made by Charlie Watkins, founder of Watkins Electronic Music (WEM).
They were the first of the affordable electric guitars meant to encourage kids to play, sold through the mail order catalogues of the day... You could get them on HP.

Mine is a Hank Marvin replica in Salmon Pink. I had to make a new bridge for it when I got it, and do a couple of little soldering jobs. It's very nice to play and sounds good.

The guitarist in Blur had one … It's the guitar on "Parklife".

I used to keep it in a special cupboard at work with a practice amp, and play it at lunch time. One day the plumbing rep came round at lunch time and I knew he was in a rock and roll band at one time, so I let him have a go on it... Chuffin' 'eck I've never heard anything like it, he set the building on fire and I was electrified..

Turns out he played in Marty Wilde's band and toured with him for 10 years.. I've never heard such blazing rock before or since..!!
