Angry Just when it was all going so well

Went to do an oil/filter change on the trike this afternoon to discover some twat has managed to mangle the drain plug Will get a new one next week before I try to remove it - hopefully things won't get too brutal & messy in the process.

Wish me luck

How badly damaged ?? In my experience you could say get a size up ie 12mm and slightly chamfer ends and tap it in to increase the size so its tight. Hope it helps.

Wish I saw this earlier...explains why I rounded the damn thing for starters. Mine's all chewed up know and I've got a few ideas to sort it out. Just got some torx to pound in and see if it grips. If not, I'm going to take a chisel to it. If the chisel is too sharp and the brass too soft I'll cut a 'V' out off the edge and put a pinch punch to it. That's the plan anyway.

Just had a look at the new plug I just got and I think you've gone the right way about it since it IS tapered, as mentioned in the thread you refer to. It's 10 mm at the 'bottom' and 11-12 mm at the 'top'. Stupid design.
