4 years in a shed !!!

Well after a long break, 4 years after a bad gixer crash !!

I finally decided to get the monster out.......shock corroded this corroded that, and dont know where to start ?

shall i drain the oil and petrol ? ect ect

anyhelp to revive my monster will be appreciated

Looks ok in the picture, id do the following,

Belts (before you even try and turn it over!!!!)
Oil + filter
Plugs
WD40 all over the electrics
Charge the battery and see what happens.........
Change the break and clutch fluid and then go for a ride!!!!

Good luck with it, a days tinkering should put it right.

Chain and sprockets may be fooked, depending on how damp shed is? Also a new set of tyres may be a good idea, as after 4 years standing they'll be rock hard & wet weather grip could be well dodgy

Nice paintwork which seems familiar - were you at Arrow Mill a few years ago?

Belts and plugs, oil etc.
If it has been a bit damp pull all the connectors apart if clean bit of lube vaseline whatever stick back together.
Replace hydraulic fluids.
Lube anything that moves, clean what doesn't
Slap in the new battery and fuel.
Press starter and go

Thanks for the comments and help, the shed is totally dry, but things like the brake fluid res have got white mouldy looking stuff on em ? and im scared to start her, so i will take your advice and do as you have said, hopefully get her on the road again !!

mate just crank her!!!!! see what happens!!!! apart from the tyres which might be abit fecked, the rest should be the ok!! look at it..... its hardly a rust bucket!!! plus if you can ride that machine in the backround im sure you will notice anything wrong!!

Belts are a must!! Don't know what you're worried about mine was outside for five years. Had compost in the fuel tank, manky everything but was up and running in no time. Yours is certainly prettier too! The tyres will probably be a bit crazed and will have settled and squared a bit so would be a good idea to change them before going too mad. The mouldy looking stuff on the reservoirs is probably just a bit of corrosion which should come off fairly easily. You will have to put clean fuel in and will have to pop some in the carbs to flush them out but it's all easy common sense stuff really. I'd flush out all fluids to be safe. Have fun!

Hmmm, is that the bike that had to be rescued from chris clarke's before it went under, i seem to remember that paint job but the name has changed, please remind me who you used to be. Or is my memory fading.

oil change
belt change. plug change.
drain tank change fuel filter.
fresh fuel.
charge battery and see if shell start if she does,
then
go mental with the chain lube on the chain and sprockets,
then ride her down the tyre shop.
the pins in the calipers might need freed off and greased up too

check the brakes before you ride it

I had a bike in storage for a few years and the brake calipers seized and had to be rebuilt

A bit of a problem a one of the calipers (performance machine) is now obsolete and parts are no longer listed........

Yes dave twas I !!! I had a pretty bad "off" on a crescent gsxr (high sider, on a main road = lampost, other cars !!!) put all my bikes in the shed, and didnt touch them since, i was out looking for new bikes and thought ..... well there aint a lot better on the market than my old monster, so I have begun the process of bringer back to life !!!!
