20,00Km service

My 2006 S2R1000 is just coming up for its 20000Km service. I have the choice of 2 Ducati dealers (specialists). One removes the cylinder heads and grinds\reseats the valves , the other just checks valve clearances (both do all the other normal thingys, changing belts etc).
The price difference between the 2 isn't that big.
Do valves really need reseating at 20K? My bikes had an easy life, I like to go fast but I never thrash it.

Can't see that reseating the valves would be strictly needed but if they're using tight tolerances then it's nice to know everything is just right.

If the valves are re-ground/re-seated, the clearances will need re-setting again after a couple of hundred miles, when they've bedded-in!

20,000 kms thats only about 12000 miles. Valves should just need checking and if the bike has had an easy life may not even need adjusting.

Cheers then I'll go for the 'simple' service and have the valves done at 30 or 40k.
