Different handle bars.

Hi,
I’ve raised my bars by 40 mm, but still get a sore neck after an hours riding.
I have a pair of handle bars off a scrambler which I would like fitted.
Does anyone know of somebody in Manchester area that might undertake this work?
Bearing in mind the electrics will most likely need extending, along with other cables/ brake lines.

Monster went in on 7th March...no word yet.
Did mention Jeff’s name...they said...WhoTF Is Jeff?

Hi,
Couldn’t get scrambler bars fitted to my M696,so, had to let the bike go and get something with a more friendly (For me) riding position.
Result is a Scrambler Classic 803.4 years old.
The front wheel is 1” dia bigger than the rear and I don’t like that, so was wondering if it would be okay to fit a wheel the same size as the rear one?
This would also slightly lower the seat height and suit me better.
Anybody know whether okay to do this, and which wheel might fit.

Did you know you didn't like different size wheels before you bought them? Asking for a friend.

I am not sure why you say you don't like the idea of the front wheel being a slightly larger diameter to the rear- this is quite often the way with a lot of cruiser/urban style bikes, with off road bikes going even further up to a 21'' front and 18'' rear.

I would have thought that going down in size on the front may speed up the steering too much for that style of bike unless you alter the tyre size to compensate and then you're back to the rolling diameter of the standard set-up.

If you just want to lower the seat height there are a couple of more conventional ways of going about it.

Firstly, buy the low seat that is available from Ducati, easily changed and designed to fit:

Or go a slightly different route and fit a lowering kit like this:

Remember though that the lowering kit will only lower the rear suspension and you may (or may not) need to pull the forks through the yokes to compensate and keep the geometry at the factory setting- this will of course lower the bike overall and reduce ground clearance as a result.

Personally, if you want the seat lower then buy the low seat option.

Yes, I knew, but the riding position was more important than two different wheels.
Probably me, but I’ve always felt the bigger wheel was harder for me to get round corners/ bends. But I can live with it, if I have to.

The seat is none standard (Mustang) so don’t know how that measures up to a factory seat, but it feels quite soft.
The front forks have been “Tuned?” And the rear shock is a Nitron, so, with all this I don’t know how it sits against a ‘Regular’ bike.
Don’t want to change the suspension.
Only got bike today so need a decent ride out to see how i feel with it.

PS. Bike is a Classic but it has Ali wheels.
PPS. It don’t look anywhere as nice as the Monster it replaced, but at least it’s a Ducati.

I think you probably just need to get a few miles under your belt with it but depending on the previous owners' weight/riding style and whether they took a pillion regularly etc. you may find that the Nitron (if not the forks as well) may be sprung very differently to how it might need to be for you- so you may end up having to change some things anyway.

Hi,
Did 35 miles on bike yesterday.
Could do with some longer legs. Clutch seem either in or out(Nearly like a dog clutch). Front brake quite vicious when coming to final stop.
Riding position is really good for me.

I bought a Street Tamer Throttle tube (Not arrived yet as not told there would be
Customs charges, £30) as I’d read they might help with low speed throttle control.


Can those link type lowering kits be used on a classic Scrambler?

Well....I took the end caps out of my Classic Scrambler handle bars and was surprised (Very!) ...to find they were held in with M6 Rawlplugs...is the normal?
