I Suspect they're glued on. Like you, I've tried pulling and levering the needles judiciously, I've always bottled out for fear of causing permanent damage.

I bought a damaged set of gauges to switch the cards onto my bike for the change from Kph to Mph. These are sealed up tight and would need cutting open. The best quote i found for this was £300 with new glass & reassembled/ warranteed.

That job is on hold!
