Termi Exhaust for a 797

Hi

A long shot I guess with 797's not being that old but I'm looking for a second-hand Termi exhaust for my Monster 797.

Does anyone know where there might be on for sale?

Thanks

Nick

Glad to see the modifications have started, Nick!

Is this any good? (Not mine, by the way!) £295 + £12 postage. Or maybe even make a cheeky offer.

Hi

Thanks for the link.

I've emailed and asked a couple of question, like are all the bits and the removable baffle with it.

Ill have to get it fitted and chipped.

I've just clocked 1000 miles and she's had her first service about 3 weeks ago at 625 miles so all going good.

Really please with her! Went with a mate to Sammie Millers at the weekend for his Italian ride in. We stayed over night.

There were some lovely bikes there to. One guy had a 900s monster he had bought for £1800! it looked a good bike and sounded great. He's flogging it to get another bike.

Hi

Did you have to get the bike chipped when its was fitted?

How does it sound with the baffles in?

It looks like you have to remove the CAT, is that the case?

Nick

I had the Same Scorpion on my Scrambler. Fantastic it was.

The cat comes off with old exhaust in one go and the scorpion is an easy fit.

No map required according to scorpion, however all new bikes would benefit with a bit of dyno time anyway so i'd recommend putting it on the to do list.

I guess when its MoT time I'd have to put the old system and CAT back on for the emission...?

May be corrected on this but;

my understanding is that those scorpions are road legal with the baffle in and bikes do not get tested for emissions so you should not have any mot issues.

Really wish i kept my scrambler now......soooooooo much fun.

No cats needed for the MOT, emissions aren't part of the bike test. As long as it's not ridiculously loud and doesn't have "For race use only" stamped on it, you should be fine. It's down to each individual tester as to loudness.

I've just had chat with scorpion and they confirmed that there's no emissions for a bike MoT just the sound, which their exhaust meets as it's road legal. You can remove the dB killer on there's but interestingly he reckons it sounds better with it in.

The only issue might be if I go to France/Belgium on it next year with regard to the lack of a CAT, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

Hi

No It didn't. the chap didn't have a dB killer for it. I asked a couple of dealers and they said they had tried to replace dB killers in bikes they had in but couldn't get them (for 797/scrambler exhausts) so I gave it a miss, then the guy on here suggested a scorpion ( a hell of a lot cheaper, looks very similar) and so far I've heard good reports about them.

On the subject of db killers, this may be of interest. I found a photo of the end of the 797 Termi can and noticed a striking similarity between the shape of the outlet and the same part on my Evo cans.

It may be that the carbon cap and the outlet are the same size and shape on both sets of cans. The top picture is the 797 while the other is my Evo. While the centre tube looks slightly wider on the 797, it may well be that an Evo baffle would do the job. (They can still be bought for about £40 new.)

If your dealer has a 797 exhaust you could take measurements from, I could give you the size of the Evo baffle for comparison.
