New Monster Reveal - 02/12

Ducati have teased a picture of the Monster due for a reveal on 2nd December. I believe Slob is going to one of those briefing things for it

Don't keep it to yourself! Let's see (or at least post a link).

If it’s the 2nd link then it’s a very hard no from me. Sadly.

Thanks. You're right about not being able to see much!

I guess we'll just have to wait 'til December 2nd. (I wonder if Rob will get a sneak preview next week...)

Yeah, not giving much away are they.
The second link is an unofficial mock-up

For me the thing is that from the original everything’s been definitely ‘Monster’. Mk1.1 (st frame/tie-rod rather than 888/hoop) and, lets call it mk1.5 (sss) there wasn’t much visual change.
Mk2 (696/796/1100) while an aquired taste for some, was instantly recognisable, especially as a silouette, despite considerable changes. I didn’t warm to them at first but they’re bloody great to ride.
Mk3 is also very much Monster shaped even though it looks much more natural as 821/1200 with the water-cooled motor. The 797 looks a little odd to me, but that might be the integrated, rather than separate, rear sub-frame rather than air-cooled motor.

Losing the trellis is a massive risk in itself, given the best-selling nature of the Monster.
While progress has to happen, personally I can only hope what we see next month is significantly slicker and more of an evolution than what’s been predicted. The factory do tend to go to great lengths to disguise road going prototypes, spy-shots of which are the basis of 3rd party photoshop jobs.

... fingers crossed

If it didn't have Ducati written on the tank you wouldn't know, what it was. It looks like any number of other naked bikes to me Jap or Italian.

Also I notice it's on the tank as Monster and then Ducati. A bit like the whole Scrambler Ducati thing

Seen worse. Not completely floating my boat like the 1100s did but not as offended as I thought 797 and 821 etc was not getting to me.

That's a yamaha MT07, not a ducati monster.

I was just looking at an article on the new MT-09 and thought it looked quite similar to that too.

I thought similar - reckon it looks like a 2003-2010 Yamaha FZ6.

Yes, this is the next 2021 model to be revealed on Wednesday.

Let's face it though, the only one we're really interested in is the new Monster scheduled for 2nd December!

I have to admit to being a bit of a Yamaha fan and having owned a fair few of them over my motorcycling years. I currently know two people with MT07's and another with it's bigger three cylinder brother in retro XSR guise and I have to say they all appear to be put together very well, especially considering the MT07's price point.

I'll also admit I'm not really a fan of any of the recent years Monsters- I know it's progress and I am sure they are very accomplished motorcycles but they just don't do it for me visually.
