throttle return cable

do we really need the throttle return cable , most carbed bikes dont have them anyway my 750ss has one and one of my monsters does the other I did not fit it and throttle seems to run better and it is less hassle to fit or remove .

Fitting the return cable on a Monster is one of those jobs where you wish you had the designer in front of you with his nuts in a vice
Add also fitting the lower vacuum petrol pump bolt on carbie monsters

I don't know why they are fitted but what I can say is when my wife has an RS250 it ran like a pig until I took out all of the slack on the return cable. Not convinced I disconnected it, the bike ran crap again until I refitted it. It didn't make sense to me then and still doesn't but it ran very nice with it fitted.

Anyone know if the Monster 600 has a throttle return cable?

Sometimes my throttle doesn't fully close which leaves me revving at the lights like an angry boy racer. Not sure what to check...

I think all the carb'd bikes are the same as they use the same carbs and so have opener and closer cable?

I have Keihin FCR carbs on mine and they were supplied with closer cables but as they are split-single carbs it had 4 cables (2 to each) plus, the FCR springs are really strong so I removed the closer cables for a simpler setup.

I can't see the carbs sticking open and if they do then there's always the kill switch and clutch plus, it's no different to other bikes that don't have them.

yes precisely its an aweful little job to fit them ,, removal is easier but its best done with carbs off the bike , I heard that it was an USA requirement to have a return cable ????
