I blame Mr Gazza for this

I told him about it, and he made me buy it , a big brother for my M750

Let the spending re-commence

Congratulations...If you ever find it's not to your liking, I'll give you what you paid for it and take it off your hands.. How could you refuse?

Sounds a very good idea to me though I did a bit different and got a 748R as a stable mate for my S2R so I has two similar-ish, well both Ducati, but different beasts to play with.

Thanks Rob, I was surprised at how well it rides - less lumpy than I expected in traffic and out of town it has that lovely V-twin (ok, L-twin) ability to lope along. Civilised was the word that came to mind after the ride home. Needs a new clutch pack and a bit of tidying, but it is 30000 miles and 14 years old.
ps, hope recovery going well.

30K is about the point where I'd be expecting some bother, based on the 2x 1000DS I own. If it's been carefully warmed up and loved it might be OK, I'd do an oil change just to see what the oil and sump plug look like.

If you ever open the generator cover, change the gear lever return spring as a £5 precaution!

As for loping along... try keeping them between 6 and 8 K RPM, you'll discover a whole new world of tunnel vision! mind you that's when stuff starts wearing out very quickly!

Congrats on the new bike, Dacs.

We'll say nothing about your partial defection from the 750 club, eh ?

No defection at all, the 750's place in the garage is secure - I just needed to scratch the dry clutch symphony itch

As the advert said, "the clutch is noisy and needs work" ----

Decided that this was probably outside of the wear limit.

Thanks to Mr Gazza for advice, tools and, most importantly, being willing to hit bits harder than I would. Clutch now works, and I can hear myself think when in neutral.

It was less of a dry clutch symphony and more like automatic weapon fire!!
Probably the most alarmingly worn clutch I've seen! and yet the inner drum was unscathed.
All nice now though and more like a smooth swing band with the drummer on brushes..

...Just the tyres now?
