It’s grand up North

We thought it was about time we explored North Yorkshire, stunning countryside ,great roads and of course Yorkshire tea.

Friday saw us set off ,the S2r owners, mixing it with the Friday traffic on the M56 ,M6.meeting up with Pezz at Charnock Richard services then north to join on to the A59 a few junctions later. Motorways are grim , the A59 a pleasure.

First planned stop was the route 59 bikers cafe, rammed full when we arrived.

Bit of route planning, yes using a map book, then off again.I took a left at Thirsk rather than a straight on so added a very pleasant 30 or so miles to the trip !

Destination was Fox and Hounds at Sinnerton, an amazing find by Col and Di.
Bikes secured it was time for refreshments.

We were soon joined by Grumpy and Heather completing a fine display of bolognia’s finest in the car park.

Fantastic weather on Saturday, first stop was the bangers and cash auction house just beyond Pickering. First a photoshoot at the hotel, the owners are bikers, one has an interesting Kawasaki!

To continue

So , I pad fully charged, where was I.oh yes so Saltburn, a popular destination in these parts and proud to have the oldest Funicular in Britain.this one is water balanced and has only recently been restored to its former glory.

Fish and chips were compulsory followed by a stiff walk up the hill as the funicular closed at Five !

What followed was an amazing return ride across the North Yorkshire moors, near the end of that journey something never before known in motorcycling circles happened ………the sole Triumph ,in the company of Ducati’s. Broke down! Andy drifted to a halt with fuel spraying over his right knee. Some investigation found the issue. The fuel line clip attaching the line to the tank had come adrift. Some panels were removed and after my failed attempt to re connect the two parts Pezz said the magic words and the bike fired back into life.

Cracking weekend away. Blue skies, great roads, good company, excellent choice of accommodation, oh and cake!
Thanks for a enjoyable weekend.
Over 400 miles covered from Friday morning, to late this afternoon, crossing some of the most amazing roads. The scenery was breath taking across the moors.
There's nothing like fish and chips by the seaside.
Until next time.

Nice to hear about your exploits.

Had I known where you were headed I would've suggested calling in at Staithes .. a really pretty little seaside town and with cliffs full of nesting kittiwakes too.
Robin Hoods Bay is also well worth a visit, with Jurassic rock outcrops full of ammonite fossils on the beach at low tide.
Both entail a very steep descent down to the town, with the latter being quite a challenge on a bike when the tide is in (you would definitely want to make sure your brakes are up to scratch or you'd end up straight in the briney). Its cobbles too, if memory serves.

It was probably the hot weather that did for the Triumph, while the Italian bikes on the other hand would've been in their natural environment.
