The short answer is: "yes".

The long answer is, it has an APTC (Adler Power Torque Plate Clutch), which means, as well as a slipper function, it also has a servo assist effect so the plates are pressed together harder as you apply the throttle.

Good luck with the hunt. I had a 1000 S2R immediately before my current 1100 Evo and they're both great bikes - you shouldn't be disappointed whichever one you go for.

If you want to see what mods can be done to the Evo, there are some ideas here: http://www.ukmonster.co.uk/monster/s...ad.php?t=55168

Don't be put off by the slipper clutch, Vince. Both the S2R, (no slipper), and the Evo have plenty of engine braking, (the Evo more than the S2R as it has a lighter flywheel), and you'll only trigger the slipper clutch if you bang down through the gears from high revs. I've had the Evo for seven years and can't remember the slipper clutch ever kicking in. If you weren't regularly locking the rear wheel on the M900, then you won't notice any difference.

Try to take one for a test ride and see how you get on.

A slipper clutch won't decrease engine breaking very much (if at all) I believe that's more dependent on the flywheel and compression and maybe engine size/crank weight and stuff like that. I would think it would actually be of benefit to that riding style since you don't have to worry about locking the wheel. I mean it never hurt them in SBK racing. Another benefit is that it will protect your engine from over revving if you do change down hard. I have found that if mine does kick in it does so very rapidly that you hardly notice it,sometimes the lever pulses a bit and can tap your knuckles if you mess up your down change.

Ar ok thanks ( Luddite )( Darren69 ) maybe it's more down to flywheel weight / size that would make sense , I just know I could feel a marked difference in using the engine braking from the 900 , I guess id put it down to the slipper , ok well that's cool I do like the evo so il stay focused for one * )
looking forward to getting back to a similar ride to the 900 although I know it wont be exactly the same , Do you guys know if the evo is a shorter stroke like the s2r or closer to the 900 ? I guess I can find that out if I have a dig about , ok guys thanks again , v.

My first Monster was a 900 and the bore/stroke was 92mm x 68mm. The S2R was 94mm x 71.5mm and the Evo is 98mm x 71.5mm.
