![]() Ok, so have to decide about whether to let the insurance take the bike to their repair centre or not. I think he mentioned something about as it was a ducati the parts could take a while. My concern is if bits might go missing before I got her back, a lot of new bits have gone on in the last 6 months.
In not what would be the best course of action, should it go somewhere with some form of rolling road or whatnot. As is has been a rearend/side kind of impact. |

Take photos of the bike and list the parts before collection and send to the insurance company so they are recorded up front, the insurers will have deals with set repair centers make sure they send it to a Ducati specialist and not any old punter who does bike repairs. Let the insurers know you expect Ducati parts and not cheaper replacement options.
Once you know where its going ring or go and see the garage have the crack, it can only help. |

If frame has taken a serious hit it may well be written off, especially given the value of the bike vs cost of new ducati parts. Either way it needs to be checked over by a specialist (on a frame jig if required) to make sure.

I think the administration center is in Altrincham, i know someone who used underwrite for them, i can ask them next week if they have a view or know about the repairs, i don't know if they got involved on that side.

Well then, she's been there a week, they've sent the insurance their quote, now she's sat about waiting for the engineer from the insurance company to come and have his say, which could be another week.
The ladies who answer the phone are helpful ![]() Bit slow on email replies though, so they are probably actually working ![]() |

![]() I've just had a copy of the estimate for repair though.
£1770 including labour. However, They have listed my bike on this as an M900 Dark which instantly makes it worth less doesn't it? (no offence to M900 Dark owners) If they think it is an M900 Dark then I suddenly have not declared a load of modifications that the engineer from the insurance company may not notice and therefore value my bike a lesser amount and just write it off and then I would also get less for her. I was knocked off my M600 Dark in March. I sent the assessor a list of the damage and the prices Ducati wanted i.e. £400 for rearsets complete with fixings and pedals, swingarm at £500, aftermarket pipes etc which totalled £1500 parts only. He wrote the bike off as a Cat D.
I argued his price of £1900 and sent him links to others for sale at the time and also reiterated the aftermarket parts and the cost of replacing them. There was little paint damage, but to fix a 2cm scratch on the tank was a full respray, a 1/2 inch scrape on the engine cover was a new cover. He upped the offer to £2250 with a £550 'buy back' option. Argue your case and send links to dealers sites/forums/Pistonheads but not E-bay as they don't recognise this as a quantifiable source ![]() I got the bike jigged and alignment checked and all was well before I accepted the buy back. E-bay was my friend...rearsets complete £60, tail light £40 brand new, levers sanded and sprayed in my shed £15, carbon Termignonis in as new condition for £165 and gear linkage for £28 from Ducati. I've got them all fitted and a new MOT (insurance wanted this) all for minimal amounts and the bike would still fetch £15-1600 with a Cat D so smiles all around. Many people say that after a crash the bike never felt the same and they wished they had taken the write off and got something new. I can see this train of thought, but I must say from my experience this is not the case as I'm more into the bike than ever. It may be because I fought to get the deal and then did the work myself (very easy stuff but stil...) but I can't wait to get out on it, even going to work puts smiles all over my face.
