Hate to rub salt but you may have done better going to the manufacturer directly, they are just across the channel near Lyon

Completely...just wrongly assumed that I was paying someone for advice, service and experties...live and learn I guess. Just another example/reminder not too trust too much and expect some to give a toss when you are paying them to do something...do everything yourself...always better...

I see there is a distrubuter in Corsa Italianana

Doesn't the discs need any holes or grooves in?

I spoke to these guys, but they specialise in the Moto Cross brakes, were very helpful but not 100% clued up on Ducati Applications - If you know what you want, I guess they can import, but looking at prices, might want to go direct.

Re. holes/grooves. These are generally for water dissipation, gas release, heat control and "self cleaning." The compromise is that you lose heat quicker due to cooling effect but in theory have less brake fade as too much heat increases this. As these are racing discs, you want more heat but sacrifice cleaning and water dissipation. Hopefully, the other components are good enough to mitigate fade from heat...For the water, it is actually fine unless you are going quite fast in the wet (i don't.) There is also debate whether holes help with water. I believe they do - looking at motogp steel brakes as a referednce and assuming that they kinda know what they are doing...

Gas release - don't think this applies any more as modern materials have prevented this. Drilled discs are technically weaker, which can lead to quicker warping if used hard for a long time.

and the cleaning - well, they begin to squeak quicker and require more attention more often - I.e. Had them a few days and are already squeaking...using semi old pads (i know, need new pads with new discs and have ordered them already....)

most of this applies to using these under racing/hard conditions - which is a long way away from 99% of my use. I.e. commuting and weekend trips with the missus. So, not too worried about the above as even on track days, i'm pretty tame on the brakes

Main reason for purchase - needed new discs, these look cool, work better, are thicker and should last forever.
